7 minus 15 AM, what a brand new day to start the begging of my new life.
Maybe I'm just being paranoid, probably I'm overthinking, and everything is going to be fine, or maybe everything will go downhill, what are the odds?I get off bed, and take a shower, using too much shampoo, anxiety. Then I get to the dresser and pick a plain yellow shirt with two little dots and a pharentesis creating a little face in it, black jeans and Vans, after dressing up, the kitchen was my next stop, I took a box of Korn flakes (my favorite I got to say) and pour milk with them.
"Everything ready?" Dad ask serving himself a cup of coffee, I nod hesitantly "want one to go?" Showing the cup of coffee.
"Sure" I say placing my cereal bow on the counter and washing it.
"On Friday your mom and I are gonna get the things left from the apartment, you may want to come with us?"
I shake my head "it's fine... I don't wanna skip school" though that's not true, I just can't go to Seattle again, too much in that place, I prefer to let it there. Dad hands me my to-go cup with coffee. Mom appears in the kitchen with a sleepy face and wishes me a good first day, then I head to school in my car, I got it as soon as I was sixteen.
I knew the way to school form home. 12 minutes with traffic. I make it to the almost full parking lot and park near the covered field, this school is huge. Then I stepped into the building and look for my locker, B-72.
History was my first class. The school map wasn't isn't in my bag, I look it desperately in my locker and books.
-Fuck! I left it at home.
There's barely anyone in the hall, just a few kids. I keep looking for the map.
"Hey! You need a hand?" A deep voice says making me jump.
"Mmmm...yeah" I say giving up looking at my locker. "I lost my map school, need to be on history class" I raise my head to look at the owner's voice, it was a tall brown eyed boy, with wide back, and wavy hair.
"I got history too" the tall boy says "I can show you where it is"
"Sure" I say closing the locker and picking up my bag "thanks"
"No problem" he says leading the way through now crowded halls.
"Shit!" The tall boy says at the sound of the bell, he then looks at me "we gotta run, if not, he's gonna give us a warn"He starts running very fast, and I try to catch up with him.
Oakwood High, had a particular way of making rules being followed, if you had 3 warnings you have to stay a Saturday helping cleaning the school, not cool to spend part of your day that way, right? The boy make and sudden stop at a closed door, there were 3 other students watching hopefully.
"We are late" the boy say, passing his hand through his wavy hair "this' gonna be my second" letting out a sight.
"It's eigth fourteen, he might not give us one" a girl approached us with hopeful voice. brunette with straight dark hair and waves at the end, wearing the school's jacket matching her denim jeans and shoes "Cameron, don't wo..." The girl was cut of, someone opened the door.
-the tall boy now had name."You know you have to be at least five minutes before the bell rings" a coarse voice speaks up from the door "I will give you a warn. You may come in, hall, Parker, Allen; and Holt this is your second time since we got back from Summer..." The teacher says with his annoying voice, making them all enter the class, what about me? "and you must be Gardner, right?"
"Yes" I say still feeling out of breath from the 'marathon'.
"I'll let you pass, next time I won't" he opens the door so I can come in. I do as instructed, and enter the big room, the board infront of 4 rows of big chairs, in the walls maps of the world and one with a timeline covering almost 2 walls of the white room, next to the board was the school's flag. I inspect the classroom, everyone staring at me expectantly.
"Everyone, this is Alex Gardner" the teacher says with annoyance "you may take your seat" he turns to me making a little bow. I go to the second row and seat in the second chair. The next two hours of my life pass in slow motion talking about the in-between world wars. When the class finished I head to the library so I could get another map. The big library (as everything in Oakwood high) It was down the same hall. My following classes were me being introduced to the classroom and much the same.
The chemistry teacher dismiss us, I head to my locker walking among the crowded halls of Oakwood high school. I open locker B-72, place the books in a shelf inside it and took my lunch.
Everyone headed to the cafeteria or the balcony that was next to the cafeteria. The main hall was packed of hungry students. I went to the balcony and located a small round table under a tree and sit. I took out my phone and headphones, play it in shuffle mode.* I need another story
Something to get off my chest
My life gets kinda boring
Need something that I can confess
Til' all my sleeves are stained red
From all the truth that I've said
Come by it honestly I swear
Thought you saw me wink, no
I've been on the brink, so
Tell me what you want to hear
Something that will...*I was finishing my sandwich when someone catch my attention.
"Hey!" Cameron says looking at me expectantly, I lay my earphones in the desk "Alex, right?"
"Yeah" I say placing everything back in the bag.
"I was thinking if you may team up with me for Wednesday history assignment?" He asks.
Thank forces of the universe, I had no one to team up with me.-Disadvantages of being the new kid, one of a thousand.
"Yeah, sure" I replied giving him a warm smile."Cool, then see you on Wednesday" he waving his hand, I return the gesture.
Cameron seats a few tables from mine, with almost every seat taken, all of them seem to be from the school's team. Sarah, I guess is the girl's name who got a warn, is there in the table too, laughing euphorically at some other kid with Coke in his jacket. I got ready to go and someone approaches the table, a girl, not so tall. The girl seats looking in my direction, Cameron besides her. Everyone was laughing in the table except the girl, she keep looking in my direction, I get that awkward feeling of being watched and of course it was the girl with dark hair, where have I seen her?
The girl had a intrigued expression, I stood up and walk through the main door, being followed by the girls sight. I can't recall where or if I have seen her.
I go to the locker and pick the literature book, my last class. Everyone's locker is decorated inside or even painted.
- Need to something with mine...
I head to the second floor where all the arts and literature rooms are. The class pass faster than I expected, the teacher, tall with bright hair and green eyes, immerse herself talking about ancient literature and their characteristics. The last bell rang at 2 and she dismiss us, everyone ran out, except for me and other few kids waiting for the crowd to pass a little more.
When I finished packing everything I felt a pair of eyes in me, the same eyes that kept looking at me in the balcony where at the other side of the classroom, this time I stop and determine the girl. I have no idea where I've seen her, but I have.
She gets called by Sarah who's also in literature and leave together. I made my way through the halls and to my car.- First day, you where not that bad.
