"Look who have decided to appear!" Sarah says looking at us from the table, already eating a homemade salad.Elizabeth looks at me and giggles "she can be kinda sarcastic" making me laugh at what I've already notice.
we approach Sarah's table and as soon as we were in the chairs Liza opens her bag and start digging for something, after a few moments Elizabeth was Eating her hamburger happily. Sarah and me exchange glances and burst into laughs at the image of the girl sitting next to me."So, I talked to Cameron this morning" Sarah say taking a sip of her Pepsi, Elizabeth stopped eating at the mention of the name, Sara raise an eyebrow questioning her.
"How's him?" Liza say almost inaudible.
"He's better. He puke yesterday like 3 times but today he seems ok" Sarah says still with her eyebrows raised.
"Is he going be in the match?"
"I think so, he's much better" Elizabeth keeps her head down, not paying much attention "he practically skipped school today" Sarah rolls her eyes.
-What happen between Elizabeth and Cameron?
After a few moments of silence, Sarah and I were finishing our lunch and Liza already done time ago was deep in though, looking at the only tree in the balcony behind Sarah.
"Alex" Elizabeth say timidly, making Sarah and I turn in her direction "would you come with us tomorrow to the game?"
I hesitate, then Sarah mouth me "go" making me smile "yeah I'll go" I offer a warm smile to Liza, who seem bothered by something.
"Good" the small girl say, returning me the smile.
"Well, I don't wanna leave you both alone..." Sarah say a raising an eyebrow and a big smirk plastered in her face "but I gotta get to class" the girl pick up her belongings and goes.
After what it seemed to be long minutes of silence, I spoke up "Is everything all right?" Sensing Elizabeth was somewhere but here.
"Yeah" she turns her head at my direction slowly and going back to her first position strumming her fingers in the blue table.
"I should go to class" I sight to myself in disappointment "See you around" I say mostly to myself.
- She might wanna be alone.
"You want me to take you to class?" Elizabeth says distantly, there's something in her mind she can't shake off.
"No, it's ok" I say my voice harsher than I thought it will be, making Elizabeth turn in my direction once again, her eyes drawn in confusion.
"See you in the lockers before class, then?" A hint of hopeful in her voice.
"Sure" I take my things an stand up heading to the last class of the day.
I get up of the blue chair and stop when someone grabs my wrist, of course, Elizabeth.
"I am sorry" the girl say with an apologetic and sad look in her face.
"What for?" I try to get off her hold but she grabs me way too hard.
"Being evasive..." Liza say with sad puppy eyes "I'm just trying to think"
I don't push her on telling me what she's thinking about, it's better not to.
"Don't worry" I give her a warm smile to assure her "just don't overthink, ok?"
Elizabeth already with glassy eyes nods and stop grabbing me.
"Are you cry..." The ring bell cut me and Elizabeth stand up fastly.
"In the lockers?" She asks grabbing her bag and denim jacket.
"In the lockers"
We went out from the balcony together, the hall already packed with students Elizabeth went to her class and so did I.
The last hour of Wednesday is literature.
The teacher, tall middle age woman. She stood the whole hour talking about ancient literature, and everything that followed with it from culture to religion and more. I amazed myself when there were a few people paying attention, the rest was sleeping or in their phones.
The bell rang and everybody grab their belongings so they could go.
"Hold on!" The teacher said with loud voice "For Friday I want a resume of all that I say today" a few groans from the students and someone told the teacher to change the assignment but she refused "Class, you are dismissed" her tone serious but somehow angry at the students disrespect.
I took my jacket and the book the teacher hand me earlier, we will read it for the final project.
"You're Alex, aren't you?" I was keeping the book when a melodious voice address me, I turn back to face a tall brunnete girl with curly hair, donning a cream light dress and small red flowers on the waist creating kind of a tiny belt.
I nod at the girls question.
"I am Taylor. Sarah's sister" she said shyly.
"Nice to meet you, Taylor" I smile at the girl.
"I saw you yesterday with Liza, my sister's friend" she say looking at me deeply, detailing every inch of me.
"Why is everyone surprised that I hung out with Elizabeth?" I say a bit of anger in my voice and let out a laugh in disbelief.
- Is Elizabeth unreachable?
"No" Taylor quickly says "she's kinda shy...she's not used to hung out if it's not with her closest friends"
I stare at the brunnete with no facial expression at all "maybe she just wanted to be nice"
Taylor nods kindly. Gesturing me to follow her through the classroom then the hall.
"But everyone knows her" I say connecting the dots.
"Yeah, everyone likes her and will say she is one of the most beautiful girls in school but Liza is no an attention seeker" Taylor laughs "She will avoid attention at any cost, but still everyone pays attention to her"
"She's shy" I say understanding the whole situation. We arrive to the hall were my locker is.
"See you around?" The tall girl says. Taylor notice something behind me and raise and eyebrow then shakes her head in disapproval with a smirk plastered on her face.
I look at her questionably "Sure" I say a little confused waving my hand.
