Ch. 5

Kreme POV

The intruder shot up holding his ear from the gun discharging right next to his head, giving me room to kick him in the groin. I jumped over the couch to add some space between us as he stumbled up right. I got up to my feet before sending two punches to his jaw and a single kicked to his leg. He fell to his knees and I gave one final punch, knocking him out cold. When I backed away out of the living room to catch my breath something hit the door causing me to scream.

"Kreme it's us, are you alright!", Jungkook shouted and I quickly moved to unblock the door. Jungkook immediately crashed into me with his arms around my shoulders.

"Are you okay? What happened?", he questioned.

"We heard a gunshot.", Leila added with her weapon ready.

"There's someone in the living room. I knocked him out.", I said and she moved around us to the living room. She tied him up before an unfamiliar face walked into the house.

"Who's she?", I asked pointing at the woman.

"This is Veronica. She was the one screaming earlier. Said these people were chasing her."

"He's one of them! He's alone though.", Leila called out and I sighed. Jungkook walked towards the living room where he knelt down beside her.

"We have to leave. If he found the house, someone else will too.", Leila commented.

"What do we do with him?", I asked and she shrugged.

"We kill him.", Leila replied and I nodded.

"Do you really have too?", Veronica asked.

"He's a liability.", Leila said.

"If we leave he won't know where were going?", Veronica said rubbing her arms.

"He was going to kill me you bitch.", I snapped and she looked up at me.

"You're taking up for one of the people who turned on you. If that's the case we can leave you behind and you can make amends with him instead.", Leila spat and Veronica stared at the floor.

"He still a person. He's not infected.", she attempted and Leila stabbed the man in his gut.

"He will be. Anything else?", Leila countered and Veronica has a deep frown on her face. "That's what I thought."

The three of us walked to the garage before Leila opened the car door and put the keys into the ignition. Veronica stayed a few feet behind us and I frowned. I looked at Jungkook before cutting my eyes in her direction. He nodded with a straight face and moved for the car. Just as we turned our backs the two of us were sent to the floor.

Leila POV

Hearing a thud I turned to see Veronica getting ready to kill the two teens. I jumped over the car and tackled her into the ground, causing her to lose her weapon. She grabbed my ponytail, pulling back before punching me in the face. She moved for her gun and I quickly pulled my knife, dashing toward her. Just as she turned to shot my knife was at her throat and my free hand grabbed her wrist moving her arm to the side. She glared at me only to be greeted by my smirk.

"You should use a knife next time, more effective.", I said snapping her wrist. She screamed out and I brought my knee up to her stomach. I pinned her to the wall with my knife pressed against her throat with a scowl.

"So my hunch was right. You are one of the bad ones. So tell me what was your plan? Oh nevermind, Kill us and take our shit right?", I spat and she bit her lip.

"You two alright?", I asked and Kreme groaned.

"Yeah. We're good." Jungkook disarmed Veronica and slipped the gun in his pocket.

"How many people have you lured into a trap with your so called cry for help?", I questioned and she remained silent. I arched an eyebrow and applied pressure to her broken wrist causing her to whimper in pain.

"If I didn't they would've killed us. I was expecting anyone to show up. When I saw you in the woods, Terry told me he found a house to scavenge. Didn't think he expected there to be anyone else.", she explained.

"Well he's dead now. You might want to join him.", I said getting ready to kill her.

"No please! I'm sorry. Okay I'm sorry. We didn't know what else to do. They did betray our group but they also said they spare us if we joined them. Please don't kill me.", she muttered.

"I won't.", I replied before knocking her out cold.

"What do we do with her?", Jungkook asked and I sighed.

"We take her.", I replied and Kreme's eyes went wide.

"Why!?"

"She knows these woods. Which means she may know a place we can crash. Check her for any other weapons. Then tie her up and put tape over her mouth. Throw her in the back. Jungkook you sit with her, make sure she doesn't try anything else.", I stated and the two nodded.

Once everyone was situated I checked under the seat for the garage button. I did find it but I also found a small piece of folded paper. I frowned up as I unraveled the paper and reading a note.

Just stay alive alright.

I couldn't help but smile as I slipped the paper in my pocket before clicking the button. The garage door slowly opened to reveal a few infected which I easily drove past.

"Where to now?", Kreme asked.

"I honestly don't know.", I replied.
