10: Kath's past

They were staring at each other for a long time. Ultimately Zen broke the silence and said.....

Zen-> Niel, did you come here for some work?

Niel-> Huh?! Ohh y-yeah! Dad gave me this to give it to you.

Zen-> What's it?!...Ohh the Permission for a night stay at Bhangarh?!

Niel-> Yes, Prince.

Zen-> Please don't call me that. I've asked you many a times to not call me that.

Niel-> Ohh okay Zen.....I-I think I should go now. I've work.

Zen-> Niel walk you to the door.

Niel looked at Kath again and then left with Zen. Kath was standing there all speechless and motionless. But I think I've seen Niel somewhere before.

Zee-> Kath, I think we should go to our room now.

Inside our room....
Kath was still in a shock.

Zee-> Kath, see this dress...I have brought it here just for my birthday, I'll wear it tonight......Kath?!....KATH?!

Kath-> Huh?!

Zee-> What's wrong with ya?! After you saw Niel, you became almost speeches. What's it Kath?! Tell me.

Kath-> *thinking*

Today's her birthday..I shouldn't disturb her with my worries now.

Zee-> KATH?! I'm talking to you..tell me what's wrong?!

Kath-> N-no Nothing! Let me see your dress...Ohh wow..it's beautiful, you'll look great in it.

I took away the dress from her hand..

Zee-> Kath, you're gonna tell me what is making you worried. You just can't lie to me. I know you very well. Now, just tell what's the matter?!

Kath-> No Zee, it's nothing... you enjoy yourself today. After all Zen asked you on a date.

Zee-> Yes I'm happy that he asked, but there's nothing important to me than you Kath. Besides I can never enter into a relationship with him, infact I don't want to also.

Kath-> But why?

Zee-> You know it very well, Kath. We can't live here forever, we're here for just saving this place. After that we've to return to our own lives. Now please Kath, for God's sake tell me, what's wrong with you?! I-I felt like I've seen Niel somewhere.

Kath kept quite for a few minutes then she sighed and gave me a heart shaped locket.
I didn't say anything, just took the locket and opened it. There lied two photos side by side, one was 16 years old Kath's and the other one was.......

Zee-> Hey...this guy?! Isn't this Niel?!

Kath-> Yes. And you've seen him nowhere else other than in this photo. *huge sigh*

Zee-> YES RIGHT...but Niel?! In your locket?! Both your photos side by side inside a heart?! You know him from before?! You never said me about this. When ever I used ask you about this photo, you used to say, "He WAS just a good friend of mine!"

I was surprised...

Kath-> Y-yes Zee..and I'm sorry for that. Actually I knew him since we were 15. We used to like each other. He had given me this locket on my birthday. I had also gifted him a similar one on his birthday.....then one day he asked me a question.

Zee-> What question?

Kath-> "Do you love me, Kath because I love you from the bottom of my heart?"

Zee-> Huh?! So what was your reply?

I asked with a smile.

Kath-> I wasn't able to answer him that time...I was stunned that he asked me such a question. Then he said,"It's ok if you don't wanna answer now."

Zee-> So did you answer him, later?

Kath-> No...because I fell sick after that and I was unable to attend the school for a few days....then one day a friend of mine named Sree, came and said that  he was leaving because his father got transferred somewhere. She said that he wants to tell me something important in the park the next day at 9:30 a.m. I-I was very ill but still I wanted to see him for the last time and answer his question. S-so I went there before 9:30.

Zee-> Then?

Kath started crying...

Kath-> I-I kept waiting for him there till 10a.m....b-but he n-never came. *sniff*. Then Sree came running and huffing and said, "Ohh Kath, so you're here...Niel send this for you." It was a letter..I opened it with eagerness...there it was written, "I used to like you once but you're so selfish, you never bothered to reply me. I've got someone better than you who truly loves me. Please don't try to contact me. -Niel Parker"

Zee-> Ohh...Kath..Kath..maybe it was Sree's conspiracy. She wrote that letter.

Kath-> Why would she do that? She was a good friend of mine...besides I knew that handwriting, it was Niel's.

Zee-> So you never tried to contact him?

Kath-> Of course not.

Zee-> But it seems like God wants the two of you to be together...that's why you both met again here.

Kath-> I don't think so and besides we're not gonna stay here forever, right Zee?!

She said and she was a bit disturbed...

Zee-> Whatever...but I saw love for you in his eyes.

I punched her arm playfully to tease her and she rolled her eyes at me...but I need to find out the truth..Niel seemed to be a good person.
