Three hours before dawn. Dehaka and Dits began to wake up the group. First Krista and Rodney. Then H and Abigail, and finally Richter.
“What the fuck are we doing? It's too damn early.” Richter cleaned the barrel of his gun.
“Richter, you don't sleep so why are you complaining?” Krista checked her ammo and reset her watch whilst she spoke.
“I still keep myself busy. Whilst you lot sleep.”
“And how do you manage that?”
Richter reached into his pocket and pulled out a small device on a length of string. “This mainly.”
Krista looked closer at the device. Then took a step back in amazement. “IS THAT A DETECTIVE CONAN TAMAGOTCHI?” Krista lunged at the device. Which Richter quickly pulled out of her path. “It is. And it's mine!” He held it close to his chest “I found it on a raider I blew up three years back.”
“Seriously!? We're about to go into a literal war zone, and you two are fighting over a child's toy?” Dits stopped Krista from going in for another attempt to take the device.
“Yeah. You're right. I'll take it afterwards!” Krista started walking towards the village in the distance. “Come on then! These things aren't going to kill themselves!”
The village was far behind the group but with no bearing to follow, they were lost. Dehaka let Krista lead the group towards the mountains. “So what's the plan people?” Richter cleaned his guns with a rag covered in blood, making it dirtier as a result.
“Well. I can sense a large drop in magic in the canyon overrrr. There!” Dits pointed towards the left.
“And when were you going to tell us that? We were just going to walk towards those mountains” Dehaka gestured to the closer mountain range. “But you could sense which direction to go. Plus you haven't even explained why you can tell but the rest of us can't.”
“I thought the rest of you could tell. Apart from you Dehaka, I just chalked that down to you being a idiot at times.” Dits started walking to the left.
By the time the group hit the canyon the sun had come up. “I'm surprised that none of the scouts have found us. It's sunrise and I can't ever hear combat.” Dehaka continued to stride through the canyon then stopped, looked around and realised something. “Um. Where are all the enemies?”
“Have you only just noticed that?” Krista turned to look at the confused Orc.
“Yeah. Fuck sake. I wanted to kill something today.” Dehaka slumped over and kept walking.
“DITS! How much further do we have to go?” Richer was poking Dits with one of his guns.
“Well it's getting stronger in there.” Dits pointed at a large cave.
“Well that doesn't scream danger.” Abigail withdrew her crossbow. And walked into the cave with H close behind who turned and looked at the rest of the group “Fuck I love this woman” then walked into the hole with Abigail.
Dehaka grabbed his warhammer and walked forward. “Let's go then people. These things aren't going to kill themselves.”
As it turns out. These creatures were so good at murder that they had grown tired of killing things that posed no challenge that they decided to kill the one thing that actually seemed dangerous. Themselves.
That is what Dehaka saw when he entered the cavern. Thousands of creatures that looked like H’s true form smashing each other to pieces like glass. Krista stood next to Dehaka and grabbed his hand. “What do we do then?”
