Blake
I breathe out heavily, smoothing down the red floral skirt of my dress.
Zach is finally back from his trip, and I decided to invite him over for dinner with my family. It's not the first time he's met my parents, he's met them a couple time actually. But this is the first "official" meeting.
This isn't some petty thing to make Alex jealous or anything. I'm doing this because I need to figure out my feelings once and for all. And hopefully this dinner can make it clearer for me, and tell me if there is actual hope for me and Zach.
It's not like I'm doing this out of guilt. Okay, maybe a little. But that's beside the point.
The point being that I love Zach, but I need to figure out in which way.
I stare down at my outfit, tucking a strand of straightened brown hair behind my ear, and push it behind my shoulders. I had chosen a plan red, off the shoulder dress and paired it with a pair of brown heeled sandals. And I'd added a second necklace to add some layer.
The echo of the doorbell suddenly rings through the house, and I perk my head up like a freaking dog. I zoom out of my room, somehow magically managing to not trip over in these heels, even though they're incredibly small.
But to be honest, I'd trip over air.
"I'll get it!" I shout, rushing down the stairs, before coming to an abrupt stop in front of the door. I take a few seconds to cool myself down so I don't look like I've just run a fucking marathon, before I calmly open the door.
Zach stood on the other side of the door in a dark blue button up shirt, and a pair of black slacks. His blonde hair was styled neatly, and he was holding a bouquet of lilies in his hands. He looked incredibly cute.
"Zach!" I cheer brightly, as I hug him tightly. He hugs me back, and places a swift kiss to the side of my cheek. As I step back, her holds out the flowers.
"Here, I bought these for your mom. She likes lilies....right?" He asks, looking very insecure.
I smile, "Of course. They're her favourite."
Opening the door wider, I step aside as I allow Zach o enter the house, pulling the lilies up to my nose and sniffing them. I shut the door behind us, passing when I noticed Zach had stoped in the middle of the foyer with his hands on the was it band of his pants.
"Hey.....Alex." Zach nods curtly, staring up the stairs at Alex who stood at the top.
"Zach." He replied coldly, his eyes piercing as he continued down the stairs and stormed past us. I followed his brand shoulders before he disappeared behind the corner. What's up with him? He said he was going to be civil. That ain't civil dude.
"Uh....this way." I say awkwardly, trying to forget about what had just happened as I led Zach into the living room. My mother was there, dressed in her dark purple dress as she pampered with the decorations above the fireplace.
"Zach, my dear!" She exclaims with a huge smile. I pass her the lilies, "Oh, these are beautiful. Thank you."
"No problem." Zach blushed, and I don't blame him. My mother is gorgeous.
"Please, sit and I'll go pop these in a vase." She suggest, waving a hand at the sofa's placed strategically in the room. As she leaves the room, Zach and I take a seat on the grey sofa.
"So....this is nice." Zach whispers awkwardly, glancing around the room.
I try so hard not to cringe, "Yeah....."
