Hae Soo's POV:
I sat down in my seat, ready to get my last class of the day finished. I had finally gotten a text from Hye Gin on the information about this party she invited me to. I usually wasn't the type to go to parties but I just honestly didn't have much better to do. I quickly looked at my phone, hurrying before the teacher was to come into class. 'The party is tomorrow at 9 pm, dress fancy but not too fancy ya know, just look presentable. Not that you don't, you are fabulous girl, you know what I mean.' I read quickly before she sent the address to where the party was being held. I saved it in my phone before turning it off and preparing to focus on my studies. I hadn't been keeping track of my classes much lately cause of all of the drama that had been going on but I decided that it was best not to let it get to me and focus on the reason I was here in the first place.I wasn't paying thousands of dollars to deal with popular snobs and boy drama. On that note, I worked on my notes until the final bell rang. I closed my notebook which was now covered in notes, half of the things written, I had no idea what I was talking about but I decided to just go with it. I shoved my things into my backpack before slinging it over my shoulder and walking as quickly as I could out of that hell hole, I mean classroom. I pulled out my phone and looked at the address again, thinking it was somewhat familiar but I couldn't remember when I had heard of it or who even lived there. I walked slowly, feeling calm from the fresh air and not really in a rush to get to my dorm. Hye Gin and I shared it but lately it felt like I lived alone due to her being out so much doing who knows what with whoever she was hanging out with these days. I closed my eyes as I continued to walk, attempting to imagine myself anywhere else but here. I smiled as I thought of happy things and being back home and how simple things use to be. But that smile widened once I heard a beautiful deep voice coming in my direction.
I slowly opened my eyes and blinked a few times before squinting to see who was calling my name. I watched as the beautiful black haired boy who I had been trying to avoid running in my direction, making my smile fade. "Hae Soo-ah!" I heard that beautiful foreign accent that belonged to none other than Dong Sicheng. "What do you want Sicheng?" I questioned as I stood my ground, arms crossed as he stopped in front of me, breathing heavily from how much he had ran. "Hae Soo... please.. don't be... mad.. at.. me" he said, actually concerning me with how heavily he was breathing. "Sicheng are you okay? You are breathing kind of heavy" I asked as I, without thinking, placed my finger under his chin before lifting it up for him to look at me.
He blushed a little before attempting to speak. "Yeah... I just ran... a long ways to catch up.. with you" he managed to get out. He looked into my eyes as I looked into his now remembering that I still had my finger under his chin. "Oh, sorry" I said before quickly pulling my hand away and looking down at my shoes. "Hae Soo, you have to understand, I did what I had to do..." he started to say before someone spoke up. "Sicheng, is she bothering you again?" I heard, making me snap my head up to see who was talking. I looked to see Taeyong with his arm wrapped around Sicheng's shoulder before looking to him, waiting for his answer.
"N-no, it was me, I..." he tried to get out before Taeyong spoke again. "Surely you aren't purposely talking to this nobody are you?" He said, making Sicheng tense as he tightened his fist before looking at me apologetically. "No, I wasn't, she bumped into me" he lied, making me disappointed. I turned on my heel and walked quickly away from them, ignoring their laughter and jokes. I turned back one last time to look at Sicheng who looked really sad but he had made his decisions, he had to live with them. I honestly wasn't surprised that he had lied to protect himself.
I guess he wasn't the boy I thought he was after all. I imagine he was once but they had changed him, the Sicheng I had met and grew to like was long gone now and there was no way for me to get him back. He had asked for me to not be mad at him but the honest truth was that I felt sadness more than anger or any other emotion. Sadness of being abandoned by everyone I cared about, but not surprised because this had always happened to me. People in my life seemed to disappear like leaves falling from a tree. I shook it off and went to my dorm to get some much needed rest and to think about what to wear to this party tomorrow. I was a bit upset and confused as to why Hye Gin said she couldn't walk with me to the party but I also wasn't too surprised because she was so busy with things anymore. My one hope was that the preps weren't at this party and that I wouldn't have to see Hye Gin grinding up on some boy especially not Sicheng.
I shook it off and closed my eyes, wanting to drift off into a good dream and get as far away from my reality as possible, desperately searching for some trust for my best friend but instead seeing nothing.
