SONG - "Kids (Ain't All Right)" by Grace Mitchell

Blaise POV

My knee bounced up and down in nervousness. I hadn't seen or tried to speak to Dylan in any way since Friday, and let me tell you, it was the hardest thing I have ever done.

Now I'm sitting in my health class, anxiously waiting for her to arrive.

Will she talk to me?

Hell, will she look at me?

Will she even come to school?

Thoughts consumed me, so much that I nearly didn't notice someone sit down in front me. I peaked out the top of my hood to glance at her sitting ahead of me.

She didn't even look in my direction, only tapped furiously on her phone. She obviously was trying to ignore me, because she was sitting on the edge of her chair as far away as she could get from me.

I was going to say something, but decided against it. If she could give me the silent treatment, then so could I. I smiled to myself, as I thought about how much fun that challenge could be.

I wonder how long she will last.

"So class, today everyone will all be getting married!" Mr. Skylar exclaimed, looking very excited.

"Okay, so I though we could have a bit of fun with this," I swear I saw an evil glint in his eyes. Oh no.

"Everyone move the tables to the sides of the classroom to form an isle in the middle please. I will put the order up on the board while you do that."

The class talked quietly to one another while they moved their tables. I was already on the window side, so I waited for the row next to me to shuffle closer.

Mr. Skylar walked back into the classroom.

Wearing a Priests costume.

He got a few laughs and high fives on his way back to his desk, little did he know he was probably going to be the highlight of everyone's social media accounts.

"Okay, okay, everyone settle down. Now this is how it's going to work out. There is a bowtie and vale to which each of you will wear, and I have fake wedding rings for you to use for our little ceremony. When you get up here, you will pull some vows out of a hat and then I will unofficially pronounce you husband and wife. Understand?" He asked everyone.

At that exact moment, some moron on the other side of the class decided to shout out, "do we get to kiss?"

I saw Dylan stiffen in front of me, and Jamie next her glance at me before looking at her.

I hoped Mr. Skylar would tell him off for his 'inappropriate' comment, but no.

No such luck.

"Well, considering you all seem happy about it, then yes," he said. "But no more than 10 seconds and no touching, yeah?"

There was a chorus of 'yeahs' and 'woo-hoos'. Mostly from the guys, but a couple of girls joined in.

Guess everybody was horny these days.

"Okay, first up is Rachael and Jasper," the teacher – 'Priest' – announced.

These guys were already dating, so they seemed perfectly fine with what was about to happen.

After they dressed up and picked out their vowels, they exchanged rings and Mr. Skylar wedded them. There were cheers when they kissed, and furthermore, Jasper dipped Rachael down to give everyone a show.

Jamie and her partner were next. They seemed to be shy around each other, so I'm guessing they were both crushing on one another.

Cute, I thought. And so did Dylan, because I saw her snap a picture of them and 'Aww' when Drew nervously leant in to peck her on the lips, to which Jamie just pulled him in closer for a proper kiss.

I rolled my eyes. Typical Jamie.

A few other pairs were called out, before I heard my name and Dylan's.

Shit.

I heard Dylan sigh before standing up hesitantly, to which I followed her to the back of the classroom. We put on out stupid costumes, where the bowtie hung to low around my neck, and the vale was too long for Dylan.

We started walking up the isle.

"No, no! Stop! Start again, and this time link arms please," Mr. Skylar exclaimed.

We both huffed simultaneously, before walking back to the start and hesitantly linking arms and walking up the isle.

"Slower!" Our stupid teacher yelled again.

We slowed down but soon made our way in front of our temporary Priest, where Dylan quickly unhooked her arm with mine and took a step back.

We both took our vowels from the different hats.

"Alright, now you go first Mr. James."

I sighed before mumbling, "I Blaise Elliot James, promise to love and care for you through sickness and in health, through the good and the bad. I promise to always make things right with you no matter how hard you make it, and I promise I'll always apologise when I'm being a dick and forgive you when you apologise back."

Mr. Skylar looked at me, then at my vows. "Ahhh... Mr. James, that's not what it says on-"

He was interrupted when Dylan scoffed loudly. "Well then. I Dylan Ivy Walters promise to make sure you always learn your fucking lesson, and realize your mistakes. I promise to listen to your apologies and make you work for my forgiveness-"

"Hey!" I interrupted her, "I'm not the only one who said shit the other night!" I exclaimed, mad at her for mocking my 'vows'.

"Yeah, well at least I didn't say that you were a-"

"Okay, now I didn't say that! You just assumed that-"

"You called me a whore?" She finished off for me.

"Now that is a load of bullshit, Princess. And you know it. You knew that I was mad about what you were saying at dinner, yet you didn't even notice! I made it clear to you that-"

"What?" She interrupted again, "What exactly did you make clear?" She asked, hands on her hips and a stern look on her beautiful face.

"That I fucking like you Dylan!" I exclaimed, throwing my hands up. "All those times that I made sure that you were okay, and taking you out and for god sakes, kissing you! And you were too naïve to-"

Her eyes went wide and an emotion flashed through them that I couldn't decipher. "You stupid idiot! You gorgeous, stupid fucking idiot," she smiled before jumping on me and wrapping her arms around my neck.

Before I knew it, Mr. Skylar was pronouncing us husband and wife.

And Dylan was kissing me.
