Xander drove us to the mall quietly. I didn't say anything and neither did he. The mall's parking lot was loaded, as usual, but we managed to find a spot near the entrance.

"Do you have any ideas about the present?" I asked as we stepped out of the car.

"No." He replied solemnly after pressing the lock button on his car key.

"Well do you have any ideas about what your mom would like to get?" I asked again.

He kept looking forward as we passed through the open doors. "No."

"Do you have any ideas about anything involving this gift?" I groaned in annoyance.

"No." He replied with the same expressionless face.

"Great." I muttered before pointing at an artistic cravings shop. "How about starting there?"

I saw confusion take over his face. "Why do I give my mom a craved ledge?"

"Um maybe you could crave something
nice in it, something symbolic?"

"No." I saw his tongue move across his mouth as he made sure to emphasize the already clear 'no'. I was tempted to slap the unbelievably annoying behavior right off him so bad but I just nodded with an eye roll.

"Clothes?" I asked pointing at the mass of body wear shops. He shrugged. Well that's a first!

"Let's go then." I said quickly and started walking towards the first shop leaving Xander behind.

"Damn it." I heard him curse under his breath as he caught up with my fast pace.

"What about this, it comes in three colors: beige, black and the current red." The shop assistant showed us the fur coat we had asked her to take off the hanger. Xander examined it up and down and shook his head.

"I don't like it." He stated as if it was okay. I say 'as if' because this is the 20th something shop we have come to check out but yet again nothing is good enough for him. I took my eyes off of his and smiled apologetically at the shop assistant who has been companying us for the past fifteen minutes.

"I'll let you talk privately for a moment." She sighed and went to put the coat back on the display hanger.

I kept my smile on until she left then a deep frown replaced my smiling features. "Are you kidding me?" I asked Alexander in annoyance. He lifted his eyes off his phone to meet mine for a moment and then went back down without replying.

"Unbelievable" I muttered to myself with crooked eyebrows. "Okay look, we've been going around these shops for more then 3 hours and we've found absolutely nothing. And you sitting down with your legs up the waiting couch doesn't really help. So if you want this to work you could try to get up and actually look for something you like yourself!"

"I will tell you I have found something I like when I see it." He replied calmly as if I didn't just rant at him literally a minute ago.

"You mean when I bring you something to look at, not when you look for something you like." He nodded. I groaned.

As if fairy dust had hit him I saw him get his feet off the couch and put his phone in his back pocket. "I don't think buying her clothes is gonna work." He spoke lazily.
