Four Months Later

"What's Halloween?" I asked excitedly to the wide eyed boys.

"You've never heard of Halloween! I can't believe this!" Nilesy yelled as Duncan smirked.

"It's a holiday in which you dress up and get candy." Duncan explained calmly as I nodded.

"Then what shall I dress up as?" I asked the confused pair as I sat up.

"Ummm, how about a vampire!" Nilesy suggested as I nodded.

"Sure, can I use whatever I find?" I asked Duncan bolting up the stairs.

"Sure, just have fun." He replied as I smiled, he was so genuine. I looked around my room to see a long black dress with a red droplet glass necklace. I quickly shimmied them on while looking for some long teeth. After about 10 minutes of looking I ran downstairs to ask Duncan, then I saw an old friend.

Kaz was at the door, handing Duncan a letter in a black envelope and walking away, a long black coat swirling down her back.

"What was that about?" I asked, walking down the long wooden steps to the main room.

"We've been invited to a Halloween party in the castle Ridgedog. Won't it be interesting to see him in the flesh." Duncan said making me compulsively put my hand on my cheek, tracing the long scar that ran down my jaw to my chin.

"Yes, quite." I said politely to not raise suspicion.

"And I was wondering if you could make me fake teeth?" I asked as he looked of into the distance.

"Oh, sure! Right this way." He said beckoning to the door to his lab. After another 5 minutes he had made a potion and was running to get his costume.

Two hours later

As we ran out the doors we all smiled broadly. Nilesy had decided on being a pool salesman, go figure, and Duncan was being a werewolf by gluing old pieces of brown wool to a spare lab coat. As we ran across the field laughing as we went, the trees had turned a dark brown since I had left. We walked slowly to the maze of trees, cautious of wild animals and hostile creatures, my hand clutching Duncan's the whole time. As we reached the pond we saw several groups walking in on their own. The castle was stunning, pumpkins with faces lining the path to the house with flickering lights. As I ran closer I saw they had faces on the front, as I walked closer to the door I recognized several and once I got to the end of the path I saw three over the doorway, precariously placed as to not be seen, the smallest had a picture of Kaz, her smile burning bright. The largest was the figure of Ridgedog, back turned to us. And the middle one surprised me, it was the stature of a girl, she seemed to wear a long sweeping coat and a short dress, then my eyes finally widened and I realized it was me. As Duncan and Nilesy caught up I looked down, hurrying inside, I needed to talk to Kaz.
