Chapter 15: Kaz's Past

Jac's pov

As I sat at lunch I slowly ate at my sandwich. It wasn't that it wasn't good, it was just that something was worrying me, where did Kaz come into Ridge's life, an old friend, an ex, a sister, it was eating at me like I was eating my sandwich. As Kaz walked in and sat down with her bowl of soup I asked.

"Hey Kaz, how did you meet Ridge?" I asked, making her sigh.

"Well it's a long story, would you like to hear it?" She said looking at me with a look of pure agony.

"You don't have to but I want you to." I said leaning in for a note of my sandwich.

Kaz's pov

"I'll do it." I said plainly letting my memories take over.

Flashback

As I walked through the field Steven ran after me.

"Hey wait up!" He yelled grabbing the back of my dress as we laughed, we finally reached my father's garden and sat on a bench.

"You're funny!" I giggled as he ran through the bushes always still laughing as he came out.

"You are to!" He laughed as I made a funny face.

"Let's never leave each other!" I suggested as he nodded yes.

Ten years later

"You shall marry the vicomte de Changy!" My father bellowed through the hall, I nodded.

"Yes papa, I will give honor to our family and marry Raoul de Changy." I said placing my shoulder length hair to one side.

"Thank you my child, you are dismissed." He said as I ran up the stairs to my room. This was so frustrating, I've never even met Raoul! As I ran to my room and flopped on my bed I heard a knocking on my window.

"Steven!" I yelled throwing the window open and helping him in.

"Steven, I need your help!" I said lightly making him look at me, confused.

"What is it?" He asked looking frightened.

"I've been told I have to marry the Vicomte." I gulped.

Five years later

"You little slut!" Raoul yelled pushing me back.

"You deny me after all I've done for your family! You will rue this day!" He screamed making me fear for my life, but I had no Steven to save me, he went missing a couple years ago. The sun began to set as I ran from him, running to my castle and standing out of breath at the door.I stayed that way for about an hour before a knock came at the door. As I opened it I saw a mob, had they come for me!

"Come here witch!" One man yelled grabbing my arms and tying them behind my back.

"You've lied and corrupted this town! Now you shall pay!" A woman yelled as the tears dripped from my eyes.

"I'm not a witch!" I pleaded as they dragged me through the city, women hiding their children and men spitting on me.

"Just wait till morning then you'll pay!" A man yelled as they threw me into the city jail cell, and there I sat, alone with no friends, until I heard the jangling.

"Kaz!" A voice said, pleading for me to look up, and through the barred doors of the cell I saw a man. He wore a long coat and a dress shirt, something his old status would never have accepted.

"Steven!" I cried dragging myself closer to the door.

"Drink this no questions!" He said holding out a vile through the bars to my mouth. As it dribbled down my body was on fire, I screamed and thrashed but it was already in my system.

"Good one Ridge!" One of the guards laughed as I sobbed, trying to get up.

"I'm so sorry." Steven whispered before getting up and walking away, leaving me to fall asleep in tears.

As I awoke to a guard kicking me I felt no pain.

"Wake up witch!" He yelled grabbing my hair and dragging me outside to my nightmare. I saw a wooden cross in town square, at the bottom was a pile of hay. As I was dragged through the crowd I recognized a face, Steven. I hung my head low as they tied me up to the cross, all looking with daggers in their eyes.

"Hello Kaz." A voice said calmly as I snapped up my head, Raoul. I hung my head yet again just to be surprised by another fact, they were cutting my hair, my waist length hair was cut down to my ears by the time they finished. Then Raoul began to shout.

"Now we shall send this she-demon down to hell where she belongs!" He yelled grabbing a torch from one of the guards and lighting the hay. It began in my feet, the light tingling, and even as it reached my stomach it only was a brief tingle, then Steven shouted.

"Fly!" He yelled giving my the strange feeling I could, then I did, I was able to break my weakened bindings and fly up, Steven joining me in the air.

"You have angered the gods, we will be back to seek revenge!" Steven yelled through the crowd.

"Who the hell are you two imbeciles anyway!" Raoul shouted across the square.

"Ridgedog, Ridgedog and Kaz!" Steven said triumphantly.

Flashback ends

"And that's how I met Ridge, my life was indebted to his so decided to live with him and clean up everything for him." I explained as Jac sat wide eyed across from me.

"You are AWESOME!" She yelled standing up at the table.

"See you later Kaz!" She yelled running out the dining room door leaving her half eaten sandwich behind.
