The libraian led me to the afterschool area. There were about 10 tables of kids. The ONLY seat left, was next to the blonde boy.

I already sat next to him in History. Do I really need to sit next to him again? Each table had numbers. I walked towards table 4. I sat down next to him. Once again, his blue eyes lit up. ANOTHER damn smirk, I wanted to slap him!

He seemed nice even though I've never heard him speak. "Uh, hi I'm A-" I said while being interrupted. "Adisa. I'm August. I kinda need help too but I'm also helping." The blonde boy said nicely with a smile.

How dare he interrupt me? Now everyone thinks I can't talk for myself. I need to not lash out. I was angry but I smiled instead. I was proud of myself that I could handle my emotions.

There was one girl and one other boy. Their names were Sabrina and Samuel. I had remembered their names from introductions. They were working on Geometry together. Practically avoiding my presence.

I got out my homework. Which was a 3 page study guide about the Black Panthers. This was a lot of homework for the first day. I was honestly annoyed. Half of the people at this table ignored me.

"Honestly, I don't think the Black Panthers should've been banned. They were helping keep their people safe. I mean the cops weren't doing their job. Cops are honestly annoying." August complained.

At least August could recognise cops' bullcrap. A lot of people couldn't do that. After I completed my homework. I walked outside, waiting for my mom. I noticed August and Sabrina waiting by a curb.

It was beautiful outside, the sun was shining bright. The sky was bright blue. I walked over to the curb waiting for my ma. "Hey, Adisa! What's up?" August asked me cheerfully. "Nothing much, just waiting for my ride. I think she forgot about me...." I said sadly.

"That's a bummer. Well our ride is late too. Some kids from school are going to Shaketown. Wanna come with us, Adisa? We'd enjoy the company. Sabrina is a bit boring sometimes." He said while chuckling.

Sabrina proceeded to punch August in the shoulder. Her midnight blue hair moving with the punch. Her brown eyes lighting up. Sabrina was blushing so hard. She mainly seemed unhuman, never any emotion in her face. August began to laugh in pain.

"Sure why not? I love me some oreo shakes!" I said happily.

Maybe people actually think I'm interesting. I've never been asked to hang out before. We walked a couple of blocks to Shaketown. The sun shining bright onto my darkskin.

Sabrina was listening to music. She was blowing bubble gum. Once again ignoring my presence. August chattering it up with me. The sun also shining on his pale skin. We finally arrived at Shaketown.

The lot was 50's themed, a drive thru, vibrant lights, and swing music. I could not wait to devour that oreo milkshake. We walked inside and the venue was almost full.

We found a booth, we began discussing what we wanted. A waiter walked up to us and asked for our order. His brown hair a whole sweaty mess. Or did he over moisturize? I honestly couldn't tell.

"2 oreo milkshakes and 1 strawberry milkshake. With a cherry on the top..." Sabrina said flirtatiously along with a wink.

"Uh sure thing. Um uh is that all?" He asked nervously.

Sabrina nodded and he stumbled away. August and I were laughing our brains out. I guess Sabrina had that charm.  A few moments later the waiter brought our shakes.

Sabrina winked at him again and handed him a piece of paper. He chuckled and walked away. "Oh Sabrina, such a heartbreaker?" August said upsetting like. She rolled her eyes.

"So, are you like new or something?" Sabrina asked with a rude look.

"Be nice Sabrina!" August said madly.

"Yes, I'm new. I'm from California."

"Cool, that's very interesting."

"You're not like the basic Cali girl, right? If you are please leave." Sabrina said with an attitude.

I was fed up honestly. She was being so petty. I don't know this girl. This girl doesn't know me either. Where is this behavior coming from?

"You're being a bit rude. Can you like leave?" August asked Sabrina with an angry look.

"Yeah whatever. She's boring anyways." Sabrina said as she pushed through August. Her tiny frame, her tiny hips swaying out the door.

"I am so sorry about that. She's got her own issues. She's kind of like a sister to me. Our families have been friends for 2 decades." August said nervoysly while scratching his neck.

"I totally get it. Can I try your milkshake?" I asked nicely with a smile.

August nodded and I tried the shake. It tasted like a marshmallow strawberry heaven. August and I chattered up a bit more. We left Shaketown after a few minutes.

He walked me home which was a couple of blocks. August's eyes lit up while we were talking. Something about his presence made me feel accepted.

As we finally made it to my house. He gave me a handshake. We said goodbye with our eyes.

"I had a great time. Uh I'll see you at school tomorrow." He said while blushing.

He made sure I went inside. He left one last smile and walked away. He tripped which was hilarious. I had a great time. Except for that Sabrina girl. I don't know what her problem is.
