I opened my eyes to find myself laying in a room painted a soft sky blue color. The bed I laid on smelled strongly of Alexander and I smiled slightly as I turned and pulled the blankets closer to my face. I could hear someone pacing around outside the door and sighed, knowing full well that a pair of pacing feet was not good. When I sat up, I was startled to see Alexander sitting against the bed softly snoring. I moved to stand, but the bed creaked, and Alexander's eyes immediately shot open.

"April...are you okay?" He asked with a sleepy voice.

"Yeah. Where are we?" I asked as I stood up.

Alexander hastily stood up and handed me a jacket. I stared at him before looking down to find out I was wearing a black tank top and a pair of shorts that were cut off. I stared at the outfit I was wearing before looking at him. He rubbed the back of his neck and stood up beside me.

"Who changed me?" I asked.

"Lira did. Samantha had given her a shirt from the cabin we had gone by. The vampires had torched the place down and it looked like it could have been your home. I did see a few pictures of you in there." Alexander said.

"They burned my old home down. At least they didn't kill more of us." I mumbled as I opened the door to see a kid with blonde hair pacing around the hall.

"Blake, April's awake." Alexander grumbled.

The kid looked up at me with brown eyes and let out a sigh of relief. His shirt was red, and he was wearing a black jacket. He held out his hand to shake my hand and I warily shook his hand. He looked as if he was only a fourteen or fifteen year old. Wouldn't his parents be searching for him?

"Miss. April, I'm Blake Sinclair, a new Tiger-human. I'm just worried the vampires will return to attack us again." Blake said as he shook my hand.

"You have the right to be worried." I mumbled as I walked towards the kitchen.

"They're not coming back, right?" Blake asked.

"Listen, I have no idea if they will or not. We can't constantly pick up and leave anymore. Most of us are not going to be able to constantly run about. Most of us will have to settle down." I sighed as I pinched the bridge of my nose.

"So, we need somewhere to live that the vampires won't find us?" Blake asked.

"If we were to find somewhere that the vampires won't find us, it would be the bottom of the sea." Jason grumbled from the table.

I grabbed a plate and began to pile up some chocolate pancakes onto my plate with a smile adorning my face. Everyone gasped besides Samantha, Alexander, and Blake. I looked around and frowned at their staring. What was up with them this morning? All I did was smile while getting my favorite pancakes onto a plate.

"You smiled." Jason said from the table as Damien sighed.

"Of course, she did. Point out the obvious why don't you?" Damien grumbled.

"what's wrong with me smiling?" I asked as I sat down.

"You rarely smile anymore. You always look depressed and sad; Sometimes serious and pissed off." Lira said with a nervous chuckle.

"So? What's wrong with smiling occasionally?" I grumbled.

"N-Nothing..." Damien quickly said.

"Good." I grumbled before shoveling a pancake into my mouth.

The doorbell rang, and it suddenly became dead silent. Who could that be? Please don't be the vampires. We just got a little bit of formality in our lives. We don't need to run around like hooligans all the time. As I stood, Alexander stood in front of me as if attempting to protect me. I rolled my eyes and went to open the door to see a box in front of the doorstep. I picked it up and brought it inside as everyone filed into the living room with interest, well, besides Alexander.
