Chapter 23

That several months came too fast. The boys and all 4th years are preparing for their graduation two weeks from now.

Kami namang apat ay nagpeprepare for their graduation party. We plan to go on a trip, kasama sina Rye and Brent.

And Zed? Damn him! Damn him for not telling us that he went away. Bumalik daw siya sa US at doon ipagpapatuloy ang pag-aaral. He didn't even bother to contact me or Ivan about his plans. Ano yun? Because he's broken over Anya? He is damn weak, and selfish. Kapag nagkita kaming ulit makakatikim siya sakin ng isang daang dagok.

Nagsimula na ang bakasyon namin kaya we have all the time para magbonding. Almost every day I go out with the girls. And almost every night, sa condo ni Ivan ako umuuwi.

The boys decided to go on the trip before the graduation. Right after daw kasi ng graduation nila ay simula kaagad sila sa trabaho sa kani-kanila nilang kompanya. Ivan doesn't bother about it since ang renovation ng bar lang niya ang aalalahanin niya. Although eventually, tutulong rin siya sa kompanya ng Dad niya.

"They're working on transferring the headquarters here in Manila. Ako rin naman ang magpapatakbo ng kompanya ni Dad kapag nagretire siya so I asked him to transfer it here."

"Why don't you just fly to US and work there?"

"And leave you here?" Napatingin ako sa kanya. Nakaupo na siya ngayon at nag-aantay sa ihahain kong pagkain. "I can do that as long as you'll come with me. Doon tayo maninirahan." I feel so moved everytime he talks about our future. Guess he is so ready to have a family. And I am feeling it now, to be his real wife. Although I still have a year to finish my studies, pinapractice ko na.

"Well if they already working on it then so be it. I want to stay here in Philippines."

A week before their graduation, we are preparing for our trip. We will be celebrating their Graduation party in Palawan. While waiting at the departure area, Ivan received a call. Tumayo siya at naglakad maybe to get more signal. Siguro na sa mga dalawampu't minuto siya sa telepono bago niya ito binaba.

Nakakunoot noong siyang bumalik sa pwesto namin. I asked him what's wrong...

"I-I'm sorry. I cannot come with you anymore." He got all our attention. Ikinuwento niya ang nangyari. His father, Si Dad, was hospitalized. Inatake daw ito puso. He said he needs to go there to check on him and their company. His relatives were expecting him to come as soon as possible.

"You go on with the trip. Babawi ako pagkabalik ko dito." Kinuha niya ang kamay ko at naglakad sa di kalayuan. Hindi pa rin nagsisink in sakin na aalis siya at hindi na sasama sa amin. And si Dad, nag-aalala ako para sa kanya.

"D-do you want me to go with you?" Gusto kong isama niya ko. I'm sure papayagan naman ako nila Papa at Mama. Bakasyon naman at ilang buwan pa bago ang pasukan.

Matagal siyang nakatingin sakin, contemplating my offer. Please bring me with you.

Instead ay marahan siya umiling and that broke me.

"I'll be back soon." Soon. Hindi siya nagsabi kung kailan ang eksaktong balik niya.

Their graduation is in five days, there's a possibility that he will not be able to attend the ceremony. Pero hindi na mahalaga iyon dahil gagradute padin naman siya kahit hindi siya magmarcha. His father is what matters the most right now.

Hindi ko alam kung paano ko siya pakakawalan. Hindi kami magkikita ng ilang araw o linggo o buwan. But I should not be selfish, his father needs him the most.

"I'll call you everyday when I get there." Tumango ako. It feels like I won't be seeing him for a very long time. But then I have to understand. "Don't worry about it. Everything will be fine. Just enjoy your vacation, okay?" Nakatitig lang ako sa kanya. I can't. Hindi ko kayang hindi mag-alala. Hindi ko din kayang mag-enjoy ngayong alam kong hindi siya okay at si Dad.
