We turned to see a Pauwan with an ignited red lightsaber.
Kanan ignited his lightsaber and the two began to fight.
"You seem to prefer form three... which you seem to default to a ridiculous amount." said the dark figure.
Kanan was out matched. I quickly grabbed the miracle Sabine had given me. After a short confrontation with the Pauwan I left the thermal detonator next to the closed prison door.
*Bang!*
The door was obliterated and smoke filled the air. Me and Kanan sprinted out of the prison cell.
"Who is that!?" I exclaimed.
"I don't know." said Kanan in a worried tone.
The Pauwan emerged from the smoke filled cell and began menacingly walking towards us.
After a moment or two he began to sprint at us again. Kanan turned to confront him.
Their blades clashed in a blinding fury that was almost invisible. Flashes of bright light followed by long strokes of red and blue continued until Kanan gained an advantage and pushed the Pauwan away with a kick. The Pauwan then ignited the second half of his lightsaber and the blades began to spin around his hand. This time the Pauwan had the advantage and Kanan was quickly pushed to the ground. I picked up Kanan's lightsaber ready to defend him. The Pauwan smirked. He out stretched his hand and snatched the lightsaber out of my hands, and into his, using the force.
"Your master never told you everything. There's a more powerful side of the force... The Dark Side."
I looked back at Kanan. His face was written with regret.
"I can show you the ways of the darkside... I can teach you..." the Pauwan stated trying to sway me.
"No... I will never join you!" I yelled.
"So be it." The Pauwan said flatly.
He raised his lightsaber and prepared to strike me down. I covered my face with my arms so I wouldn't see my death.
*Wham!*
I looked up to see the Pauwan glued to the ceiling. I looked over to Kanan to see Kanan's hand outstretched, trembling and struggling to hold the Pauwan.
"Run!" he yelled to me.
I took off running and as soon as I got past him he dropped the Pauwan to the floor and shifted his focus to his lightsaber before turning and running with me. Suddenly the blast doors began to close! We ducked and dodged all the way to the turbolifts only to find Sabine and Zeb standing next to the smoldering mess of what was left of the lift.
"Plan changed again and where's Luminara." said Sabine.
"She is dead. This was a trap all along." said Kanan.
"We can't go back the way we came... they would be expecting that." said Zeb.
"How about the upper hangar? If they think we will be going out the same way we came then the platform would be least protected place in the prison." said Sabine.
We took off running for the hangar. When we got there we closed the door and realised that we were trapped. None of us had thermal detonators left. I looked at Sabine and even behind that mask I could see the panic in her eyes.
"Ezra!" Kanan yelled.
"You ready for your next lesson?" he added.
"What!? Now!?" screamed Zeb in disbelief.
I nodded my head in agreement.
"Out stretch your hand." said Kanan.
"Good... now focus your mind on the lock... Feel it's parts move... focus on unlocking the door..." Kanan said in a soothing tone.
"Way to go Kid!" spouted Zeb in excitement and relief.
I was amazed... we actually did it!
"Hera come in! We need a pick up!" Kanan shouted into his comlink while we were running out onto the upper deck.
"I am on my way... and I am bringing the fleet!" said Hera excitedly.
"We have a fleet!?" I spouted.
"No... we don't..." Kanan said confused.
Just then Hera rose up from the valley in the "Phantom" along with some sort of flying creatures.
The Pauwan and a few troopers stormed onto the platform and began to open fire. Hera shot back at one group of troopers and the flying creatures attacked the rest. Hera set down the Phantom and we boarded as fast as we could. Just as Kanan was boarding the Pauwan threw his lightsaber to cut him off. Kanan felt it through the force and precisely deflected the attack with his lightsaber. Once we were all aboard Hera took off. Kanan walked up to her while she piloted the "Phantom".
"Luminara?" she asked Kanan.
"Dead... we will have to send word out somehow."
Later on Lothal I was sitting on the "Ghost's" boarding ramp. Kanan came walking down the ramp and sat next to me.
"I am sorry I couldn't get you a better teacher..." Kanan started.
"But I don't want another teacher! I want you to teach me." I blurted.
Kanan sat there just pondering what I said.
"Starting today I will not try to teach you..." Kanan started to say.
I started to feel upset and betrayed. Kanan was saying he was no longer going to train me. I had failed him.
"...So instead I will teach you." Kanan emphasized before handing me his lightsaber.
I felt relieved. He was not giving up on me. He was willing to train me and I was willing to learn everything he knew.
