Ergon and Nikra bowed in unison, the same bow as the people in the town. Both Ergon and Nikra saying in synchronization,
"My King, my Ruler, my General and Dragon incarnate! Goddess Queen light your soul and bless your blood."
The King only put up his right fist saying, with a deep, smooth but booming voice "My subjects, my people, my soldiers," and to Ergon, "My son." Gerak stood up straight and strong.
"I see you've acquired the head of the beast killing our meals."
Both boys responded quickly but clearly, "Yes Lord." Nikra added on, "We tracked for several weeks but," slight hesitation with possible fear, "Ergon DracoKyro slayed the beast in melee combat."
Ergon gasped and glared at his friend, they always had each other's tails but now Nikra ratted himself out to his father.
"Ergon," The King looked at his son, slightly stern but questioning tone. "Is this true? Did you slay a fully grown ogre on your eightieth hatch day?'
Ergon gulped and got cold feet, well talons. He almost stammered with his words, "Y-yes father. I indeed slayed it." The problem being, he wasn't supposed to. The plan was range, the bow and arrows he was given to kill it. And instead, he used his saber.
"Ergon DracoKyro...you do realize the consequences of your possible death?" He paced down the steps of the throne, heavy claws clinging to the stone and metal below with every step. "Your death, could have thrust the kingdom into turmoil, the cities fighting for power over our land for, I have no other worthy heir to the Dragon Throne." He had walked down to his son who still was bowed. Ergon replied,
"Father, I know my actions were irresponsible but I still am whole."
"Silence!!" The King shouts, "You were reckless, dangerous and brash," He patted Ergon's back with a smile on his muzzle. "You have proven yourself well my son."
Without a moment's hesitation, Ergon stood up in utter confusion.
"How father? What do you mean??"
The King's booming laughter echoed off the halls and pillars. Some guards even slightly jumped, being startled.
"How do you think my father and his father before kept the throne from the likes of Men and Elves? We made decisions on our good, the unified good of Savaria. Sure we fought in wars yet we win. Yet never conquer. You've proven yourself well, slaying the ogre despite the odds has your name carved in history." Ergon and Nikra looked at their King in understanding but so confused.
"Father, I heard you say something about my passing. If I had died, what would've happened?" Asked Ergon as Nikra stepped back.
"Ergon no offence but you have two nay, three siblings. If you die they would learn the way we fight with words. I hope you understand son." Ergon nodded, he took no offence at his father's words. He was the first born but his sister and brothers would take over if needed. Gerak continued,
"Now get ready, the both of you. The council wishes to throw a party in the honor of Ergon DracoKyro and Nikra Tylak!" He sat upon his throne again and spoke to a steward. The two younger Savarians bowed and parted ways, Nikra and Eliana's parents were advisors of the Kyro-Kal and so lived in first floor of the palace. Which made it easier on Ergon's relationship with the fair Savarian maiden, Eliana. She was Nikra's twin in womb but not egg, and engaged to Ergon.Ergon walked up the stairs next to Gerak DracoKyro's throne. On the way, a human woman leading an abomination of scales and skin, this was Ergon's foster mother and her result of sleeping with a Savarian.
How he hated her. She was kind enough on the day of the marriage but had been bitter since. Her appearance that typical of humans, bright blonde hair in a braid, pale skin, and a form of ignorance able to stump any Elf.
