Breakfast was over. I stared at the screen watching a man drone on about donating money to some charity. I frown, so many commercials nowadays. I hear a door shut down the hallway. I swivel my head around to see my mate walk towards me.
"I have business to take care of. Please do not leave the house. I will be back with dinner in a few hours." With that he struts off back down the hallway and makes a quick right turn, disappearing from my view. A few hours. A few hours would be enough time. I shut off the television and sat cross legged on the sofa. All I needed was to clear my head. Think of nothing.
Nothing.
Nothing.
Nothing.
My mind finally drifts off into nothingness. A sudden bright light fills my vision. I am blinded until my eyes finally adjust. I stare at the familiar marble floors and the crystal chandeliers. I reached out and grabbed at the familiar silk sheets that covered his bed. I was in his room and it was empty. I haven't had to use this in years. We would always meet physically in real life but this was a special circumstance.
"A?" I call out his name out. I could hear it ringing in my ears. My head hurt, badly. It always would whenever I used this to talk to him. I would use it frequently enough that when I would come I could stay for hours without feeling the slightest pinch of pain. It was just simply not the case anymore.
Holding him in this state was only a fraction of what it felt to hold him in reality. I couldn't explain it.
"Are you here?" There was no response. In one fluid motion I was swept onto the bed.
"I'm always here for you." His body was over mine and his crystal blue eyes stared into mine. I bit my lip nervously. It had been awhile since we had shared a moment similar to this. My head was pounding partly from the pain the other part from remembering some of our previous encounters.
He moves his head into the crook of my neck. "I missed you, Sky." he mumbles into my neck. His hot breath causing goosebumps to form on my skin. He lays an open mouthed kiss on my collar bone. The kiss alone wiped away the pain for just the slightly moment. He shifts his body up again and peers down at me.
I smile brightly at him. "I missed you too Ash." It was the truth I missed him so much. Asher was my knight in shining armor. He was the one I ran to for support. Asher was made for me. To be specific, made to protect me. Though I wasn't sure why I needed protection or how he had been chosen I was glad whatever it was that brought me and Ash together.
"You know what I really miss about you?" I felt my face heat up. Only Asher could make me feel like that. He stared darkly at my lips. He was addicting and I knew I couldn't stay much longer. I need to tell him. It was what I was here for.
I looked into his eyes. Pleading silently that he would understand, that he would solve all of my problems. Tears blurred my vision as I bit my lip to stop them from spilling. Asher's eyes softened as he continued to stare at me.
"What's wrong, baby?" That was it. His words broke me as I unleashed the flood gates.
I swallowed a sob as I spoke. "I found him."
His eyebrows knotted together in confusion. "Who did you find?"
"My mate."
His eyes darkened in sadness as they looked into mine. I could see he was barely holding it together as well.
I screamed as I returned to darkness. He couldn't do this to me. We could work it out. We had to. He couldn't just kick me out like this.
But he could and he did. He wouldn't let me see him cry so he made me leave. As I opened my eyes and I stared at the floor, I couldn't help but wish it was marble. I stared at the wood floor until tears filled my vision and I couldn't hold it in.
I had been crying for some time now. I wanted to stop but I couldn't. I wouldn't open my eyes and be forced to deal with this reality.
Sparks erupted at our touch. He was wiping away my tears. He couldn't make them stop. He was the reason why she was in so much pain. It was all his fault.
She seemed to forget all his supposed wrongdoings as he gently picks her up bridal style. Her head leaned on his chest as she started to feel comforted. Her tears had stopped by the time she was lauded carefully in his bed. She was slowly falling into the comfort of sleep but she knew all of her dreams would be haunted by broken blue eyes.
