No Worries

Time was moving slower than usual. It seemed that seconds were stretched into minutes and minutes lengthening into hours. The clock on the wall was mocking me with its soft clicks; telling me just how slow time really was.  My eyes fluttered closed. I felt so alone. With my heart in my feet and my head pounding, I find it eerily easy to think of nothing.

I fall into the abis of light. His room is slightly more disheveled then he usually leaves it. The bed is unmade and a few drawers are left open. I sit on the edge of his bed and begin to fiddle with the seem of his blanket, ignoring the growing pain developing in my head.

I roll myself into his blanket. As I inhale his familiar scent, disappointment rolls in. Where is he? The pounding in my head continues to grow as I lay quietly waiting in his bed.

"Sky." My head snaps back in the direction of the quiet sound. Nearly jumping out of bed, I run into his arms. My face finds its way to his neck and my legs wrap around his waist as I curl into him.

"Where were you?" My hot breath bounces off his neck and blows on my face.

"I was at an important meeting." His voice made my whole body move. Soft lips come in contact with the top of my head.

"What was it about?"

"We don't need to worry about that now." He makes his way slowly to the bed, setting me down gently. I cross my legs and stare at my feet

"Ash, about my mate---"

"Let's not talk about that right now, love." His hand moves to cup my cheek. I feel myself leaning into his hand. I missed this.

He leans in and places a chaste kiss on the corner of my mouth. I look up to study him. His blue eyes shone from under his unkept blonde hair. His mouth was curved into a slight frown. I took little notice of the darkening circles under his eyes.

"Ash, have you been sleeping alright?" I bite my lip.

"No." My hands glide over his cheek.

"Why not." I whisper lowly, terrified of his response. We stare into each other's eyes as I wait nervously.

"You found him, Sky." Unable to hold his gaze, my eyes fall. "I'm terrified. I want everything you are and somebody can take my everything away from me. It's even worse that he has the right to. You're soul mates, Skylar."

"He can't take away what we have." I state firmly.

"I'll fight for you. Even if it's a losing cause."

"There will be no fighting." I couldn't help but feel like it was a lie.

"You're worth everything." His gaze lands on my lips as I moisten them with my tongue.

He leans forward so our lips are brushing gently against each other. I lean in closer as he wraps his arm around my waist and pulls me into his lap. We kiss with deep passion, like long lost lovers. His tongue is invades my mouth and I nip his bottom lip. We fall onto the bed sheets together, not breaking our kiss. As we slow down, I am the first to pull away. I couldn't ignore the pain in my head any longer.

Asher's eyes were still closed and his breathing was stabilizing. He would fall asleep any minute now.

My head pounds.

"I think I need to go." I whisper softly as I watch his frown curve lower. He nods, not saying good bye. "I'll be back tomorrow if I can." I stare at his lips for a second more as I fall back into darkness.

I wake to two golden eyes leaning over my body.

I CAN NOT BELIEVE THIS BOOK HAS NEARLY 750 READS! What?! That's like 3/4 to a thousand!!! That's un-freaking-believable. I'm just imagining people reading what I write and I can't picture it. People want to read what I write?!

Soooooo... I'm not really one to cast (is that what it's called?) my characters (or care when they're cast in other books). But, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't thinking of Lucky Blue Smith for Asher.

Anyways, Happy Halloween!!
