John was sitting in the library, reading a book for Herbology, when a boy ran up to him. He tried to ignore the boy and continued reading the book.
"Are you John Watson?" He asked. John looked up and nodded at the small boy. "I have a message for John Watson," he paused "from Sherlock Holmes,"
"Ok. What it is?" John asked frowning.
"He said:'Meet me outside the girls bathroom on the second floor at 7pm if convenient. If inconvenient come anyway' and he also said that you would give me some Bertie botts every flavoured beans for delivering this message,"
John frowned "what if I don't have any?"
"He said that you always do,". John sighed but pulled the colourful beans out of his pocket. The boy grabbed them and ran off. John wasn't pleased that Sherlock was using other boys to deliver messages, especially ones that John had to pay for. John decided he would meet Sherlock at the required time and see what he wanted. With that thought he returned to reading his book.
John kept his word and snuck out to meet Sherlock at 7pm. He arrived at the girls bathroom. No one actually used it so it was safe to meet there. He heard a noise behind him and turned to find Sherlock right behind him.
"There better be a good reason for this," John hissed "I had to lie to my friends,"
"You did want to come, if you hadn't wanted to come you would have ignored my message and not paid the boy," Sherlock stated "Anyway he should be here soon,"
"Who?" Said John urgently. Sherlock looked up the hall and then smiled.
"Him. Right on time Lestrade,". The older boy approached and said:
"I can let you in for about 10 minutes but no longer,"
"Let us in where?" Asked John frowning.
"Excellent. That's perfect," said Sherlock ignoring John's question. Lestrade handed both John and Sherlock a Hufflepuff robe.
"Are we going into the Hufflepuff common room?" John asked again.
"Yes, with the help of my friend here. If you remember Carl Powers was a Hufflepuff," Sherlock saw John's inquisitive look "John, this is Lestrade head of Hufflepuff house,". John shook Lestrade's hand before changing into the robe in his hand. John was actually looking forward to this.
The atmosphere in the Hufflepuff common room was tense. Some people were crying, Carls friends, John assumed. Everyone looked sad or nervous but that's just natural after a friend dies. John and Sherlock followed Lestrade through the common room and up the stairs to the bedroom. Lestrade stood guard at the door.
"You have 8 minutes!" He hissed before shutting the door. John looked at Sherlock inquisitively. He began to search the boys belongings.
"Come John! Help me look!" He said not looking up from the trunk he was searching. John knelt down next to him.
"What are we looking for?" He asked. Sherlock didn't reply but pulled of the boys pillows. Nothing. He looked under the bed. Nothing. He then checked his bedside draw. Inside were some Bertie botts and a whole load of socks. Sherlock pulled out the socks and uncovered a small black leather-bound journal. He smiled.
"This is what I was looking for," he stated as he walked over to the door. Lestrade let them out and they walked down the stairs back into the living space. All eyes turned to them. Sherlock strode from the room. John hurried to keep up but suddenly someone shouted:
"Oi! They aren't Hufflepuffs'! Get them, they're trespassing!". John and Sherlock sprinted for the door and ran off down the corridor before they were caught. They slowed when they reached the moving staircase. They both leant against the wall to catch their breath.
"That was the most ridiculous thing I have ever done," panted John.
"And you're friends with the Marauders!" Sherlock laughed. John started to giggle helplessly. Sherlock had a much deeper laugh that echoed through the halls. Suddenly they heard footsteps. They exchanged a quick goodbye and ran for their common rooms.
