When John found the Marauders, they were all finally making up as friends. Sort of. John strode quickly over to them and told them everything. He told them about Jim Moriarty and Quentin and how Sherlock was right.
"Very interesting," Remus said "He's very good at problem solving,"
"How do we know that Sherlock isn't Jim Moriarty?" James frowned. John shook his head.
"What is it with him being the murderer? He isn't a murderer,"
"But you said that Jim was meant to be in Slytherin but nobody has ever heard of him. He doesn't exist," Sirius stated.
"How would you know? You're not in Slytherin,"
"Well, have you ever heard of a Jim Moriarty in lessons? Did you hear his name at the sorting ceremony?"
"Well, no but-" James cut John off.
"That settles it. Jim Moriarty is a pseudonym, a fake name!" John sighed but didn't reply. Remus decided to change the subject.
"Have you seen Peter anywhere? He's been missing for nearly a week," there was a mixture of saying 'no' and shaking of heads.
"Maybe he has something to do with it," Remus said "it's just an idea,"
"A crap one," Sirius said moodily. Lily walked in holding her books and sat down next to the roaring fire. James shifted to sit next to her.
"You know there's a murderer about." He said. Lily just nodded. "You might need protection and I'm always here to help those in need," Lily turned to him with raised eyebrows.
"What makes you think I need help?" She asked.
"I wouldn't want to see you get hurt,"
She laughed "If anyone is gonna need protection it's you. The murderer has only killed boys,"
James blushed violently. "It might be a girl next,"
"Sure, that means your the perfect target," everybody laughed.
"BURRRRN!" Sirius yelled grinning wildly. James looked hurt but there was a smile creeping at the corners of his mouth. John took this chance to creep out.
John wanted to be alone for a while but as he walked through the many corridors he heard someone yelling. Not in terror but in anger. He moved towards the sound, interested. As he got closer he started to hearnwhat was being said.
"WHY THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU CAN ASK QUESTIONS TO ME?" Yelled a female voice. John rounded the corner and saw a girl pinning a boy to the wall. The girl looked to be in about the second year, the boy in first year, and they were both in Slytherin. The girl slapped the boy viciously. John moved but the girl started to punch the boy.
"Oi! Stop!" John shouted at the girl. She turned and fled the scene quickly leaving the boy leaning against the wall with a bloody nose. John toyed with the idea of chasing the girl but decided the boy needed his help more. John walked over to the boy and told him to look at him so he could see how bad the damage was. The boy looked up timidly and John was surprised to see Sherlock looking up at him.
"Christ, Sherlock," John said before pulling Sherlock towards the hospital wing.
"I have been asking questions around the common room to see if anyone knows Jim Moriarty. Everyone said no," Sherlock stated.
"Maybe you should have been more careful who you asked questions to,"
Sherlock ignored him.
"Jim Moriarty is a Pseudonym. He doesn't really exist," this time John didn't reply. He continued walking with a grim look on his face. James and Sirius had been right about Jim Moriarty but it surely couldn't be Sherlock. Could it?
