The Captain just stared at me for a few moments until he cleared his throat.
"You want to go to the island?"
I nodded.
"Why?"
I shrugged my shoulders and pointed to a painting behind him.
"You want to go to the beach?"
I nodded once more and after a few minutes he sighed.
"Alright, we aren't staying long and remember to stay by me at all times."
I nodded then ran out into the deck and with a swift motion, I was in the row boat.
The Captain joined me and told Mr. Smee that he was in charge until we came back.
We rolled the boat into the ocean and then rowed to the island.
My excitement was getting the best of me as I tried not to show any emotion.
Once we made it to shore I jumped out and immediately fell into the sand.
The Captain smiled,"I forgot this was your first time on a beach."
I got up and dusted the sand from my black cloak and looked around.
Everything was beautiful and I pointed to the jungle.
"You want to go to the jungle?"
I nodded and he shook his head,"The jungle is dangerous and plus there are islanders who live there.
I cocked my head to the side.
"Trust me when I say to stay away from the islanders. They are animals, including their obnoxious leader."
I nodded and walked along the shore.
The Captain watched me and drowned himself with his flask.
I picked up sea shells of every kind and spotted a cove not far from where I was at.
I looked back at the Captain and contemplated going to the cove or not.
I sighed and started walking back when I heard the music.
I turned and found that it was coming from the cove.
I soon found myself dropping the shells and walking to the cove.
When I got there I saw a boy with brown tousled hair, green eyes, and he was wearing green and brown clothes.
He looked like he was older than me by a year or so.
He was playing a wooden flute and when he saw me he stopped.
His green eyes stared into mine and then he spoke,"Who are you?"
I looked down and then back at him.
I pointed at myself and made a talking motion then quickly shook my head.
He cocked his head to the side then said,"You can't talk."
I nodded and then he stood up.
He was taller than me and I immediately backed away.
He stopped,"You don't need to be afraid. My name is Peter."
He held out his hand and I hesitantly shook it.
"How did you get on this island?"
I pointed outside and to the pirate ship.
"So you're from the Jolly Roger?"
I nodded and Peter sat down, motioning me to do the same.
I sat next to him but kept back by a few inches.
He took note of this but didn't say anything about it.
"So what brings you to this island?"
I pointed to his flute and he looked at it.
"My flute brought you here? All the way from the ship?"
I nodded again and looked around the cove.
It was beautiful on the inside.
Peter noticed this and asked if this was my first time on an island.
I nodded and looked up to see the sky.
He smiled and watched my wondering eyes.
Peter and I talked- well he talked, I mostly nodded or shook my head.
He told me about the islanders on here and how they're dangerous and that they were ruled by a leader called Pan. He told me that Pan was evil and that he didn't take kindly to outsiders. He told me everything about the island and how he personally knew Pan.
The islanders were called the Lost Boys and they were kids who didn't like where they lived before. It was Pan who brought them here and they stayed here since.
We talked what felt like forever until he asked,"Why do you wear that hood?"
His fingers were about to pull the hood down when I backed away.
He stopped,"I'm sorry, that was rude of me."
I blinked and took a knife from my belt and scribbled in the sand.
I drew me with a hood and one with not a hood. I drew an x on the one with no hood and sighed softly.
Peter studied the picture then said,"You wear the hood to protect yourself."
I nodded and kicked the drawing with sand.
"What is your name?" He asked.
I was about to write it in the sand when I heard my name being shouted.
I flinched and ran outside to see the Captain running towards me.
"What in the bloody hell did I say? I told you to stay where I can see you!"
I hung my head in shame and he sighed.
"Come on, we're going back to the ship."
I looked up and pointed to the cove. I turned to show him the boy named Peter when I saw no one.
"What are you pointing at? Come on, the sun is about to set."
He grabbed the back of my cloak and dragged me to the rowboat.
As we rowed back I looked back at the island to see Peter waving at me.
