I've been here for a couple of months now and it's wonderful.
I get to explore the island everyday as well as train with the Lost Boys.
I even have Felix as a friend.
As for Peter and I, we've became close friends.
We know what we're thinking just by looking at each other.
I made my way to the cove and picked seashells by the shoreline.
When I made it to the cove I saw Peter there pacing back and forth.
When he saw me he smiled.
What are you doing here?
"I wanted to surprise you."
Surprise me? Why? Is there something special about today?
He laughed,"You're telling me that you have no idea what today is?"
I shook my head.
He walked to me and petted my hood.
I made a face and he chuckled.
"Today is your birthday, silly."
My eyes widened as I took in what he said.
Wow, I can't believe I forgot my own birthday.
His smile widened as he gestured for me to sit next to him.
"Alright Birthday Girl, are you ready for your birthday present?"
I nodded.
He smiled then as fast as lightning he ripped my cloak from me.
"H-hey!"
My eyes widened as my hands went to my mouth.
Peter smiled as I stared at him.
"Go on, talk." He said.
"I-I- how? What? You gave me my voice."
Peter grinned,"So do you like it?"
I looked at him as a tear ran down my cheek.
His smile disappeared,"Melody? Are you okay?"
Before he could say anything else I hugged him.
He stiffened then he hugged me back.
"Thank you. Thank you so much!" I exclaimed as I tightened the hug.
"No problem. M-Mel-Melody I can't breathe!"
I immediately let go and apologized.
He flicked my nose and I swatted his hands away.
"Now that that's over, here." He handed me my cloak when he stopped.
"What are you doing? Can I have my cloak back?" I asked.
"Of course, but you have to catch me first!" He ran as I stood there dumbfounded.
Then realization kicked in and I ran after him.
"Peter! Give me my cloak back right now!"
I ran after him along the beach until he ran into the jungle.
"You're gonna have to run faster if you want your cloak back!" He yelled.
I muttered colorful words under my breath and ran into the jungle.
I picked up speed when I saw him laughing.
I growled and pumped my legs until he made a sharp left. I skirted in the ground and continued to run after him.
"You are so going to get smacked when I get my hands on you!" I hollered.
"Not if you catch me first!" He retorted.
I saw him in a clearing and when I was close enough I took my boot off and threw it at his head.
He yelped in pain and then I pounced on him.
We rolled around until we came to a stop.
I sat up to find myself on top of Peter. My face was inches from his and I got up and grabbed my cloak.
"Take that!" I said as I grabbed my boot and sat on the ground to catch my breath.
Peter groaned as he rubbed his head.
I looked at him and a laugh escaped from my throat.
"What? What are you laughing at?"
I pointed to his face and I fell to the ground holding my stomach as laughter escaped me.
Peter took out his knife and looked at himself.
His face was caked with mud and grass and leaves were everywhere in his hair.
After my fits of laughter were over I calmed down and took deep breaths.
"Are you done now?" He asked.
I nodded and when I looked at him I started laughing all over again.
"Your face is priceless!" I said.
Then I felt something hit my face.
I stopped laughing and touched my face to find mud.
Now it was Peter's turn to laugh.
His laugh was the most beautiful thing to hear.
It was rich and sweet and it made my smile.
"You jerk!"
I tackled him to the ground and he let out a small oomph. This time he was on top of me and with the sun coming into the trees, he looked beautiful.
I slapped myself for thinking that and looked at him.
He was staring at me and all of a sudden my stomach felt weird. I felt sick and my heart started to beat out of control.
What is happening to me?
"So, is this another present? By crushing me with your weight?" I asked as I gave him a wicked grin.
He returned the grin back and-was he blushing?
Peter helped me up and I watched him.
No, he wasn't blushing. It was the sun playing tricks.
I pulled a leaf from his hair and smiled,"Since it is my birthday, I dare you to leave your face and hair like that all night."
His eyes widened,"Why do I have to?"
"Because it's my birthday, duh."
He crossed his arms,"Fine, I'll keep my face like this as long as you do the same."
"But I'm the Birthday Girl. I have to make myself presentable."
He laughed,"Then I'm not keeping my face like this."
His fingers moved to wipe the mud away when I grabbed his wrist.
"Alright, alright. I'll wear my face like this."
He grinned,"Good now come on, the sun is setting and the fun is about to begin. Oh and don't try covering your face with your hood."
I sighed but nodded.
We walked to the camp and all eyes were on us.
Everyone stared and I don't know what surprised them most, the mud or that I was actually wearing my hood down.
Then everyone went back to work and soon the fire was ready.
Everyone started dancing and Peter played his flute like always.
Everyone screamed and howled.
Then I did the most unexpected thing.
I took my cloak off to reveal black pants, a loose green shirt and a brown bandanna around my neck.
I took my hair out of its tie and let it loose as it fell pass my shoulders.
Everyone stared at me and I gave them a smile.
I started dancing and then everyone joined. I screamed and hollered with the boys.
I took a drink that I knew wasn't water and drank it in one gulp.
Everyone yelled in happiness and then I found Peter watching my every move.
I walked to him and begged him to come dance.
He shook his head.
I rolled my eyes,"It's my birthday for crying out loud! Come on please?"
He sighed but finally nodded.
I smiled and pulled him to the crowd.
We danced and danced until it became a part of me.
With the music and the fire, it was like magic. It felt like I became the music and I danced and danced with Peter.
I took his hands in mine and he twirled me.
I let out a giggle and we danced until the fire died down and the sky started to lighten.
We walked to my tent and I grabbed a washcloth and put it in some water and washed my face.
When it was done I threw it to Peter who did the same.
"This was the best birthday ever!" I said as I took off my boots and put my belt on a nightstand.
Peter laughed and he asked if I was tired.
I shook my head and as I did that a yawn slipped through my lips.
His brows raised,"Are you sure, love?"
I nodded and gave him a hug.
"Thank you for everything Peter." I whispered and I closed my eyes.
When I woke up I found myself in my bed with a rose on the nightstand with a note.
I opened it and read it.

I'm glad you had fun, love. It was nice to see you laugh and dance with me.
Also you sound beautiful with a voice.
Happy Birthday,

Peter

I smiled as my heart fluttered.
