Mal and Evie had just finished singing "Space Between" together. Afterwards, both girls sit down on the couch, waiting for the boys to return from Auradon with the fake wand they were asked to fabricate.
Mal notices something strange about Evie. She had an unreadable expression on her face and she was fiddling with her fingers.
"E," Mal called.
"W-Wh-What?" asked Evie, snapping out of her daze.
"You look like you just did something bad," said Mal.
Evie chuckled nervously before looking away.
"What did you do?" asked Mal, intrigued.
"None of your business," said Evie.
"It's about Carlos, isn't it?" Mal guessed.
Evie's eyes widened with shock.
"On my way back here, I saw your two sneaking around," said Mal.
"Okay, so he and I went to his old tree house to reminisce, that's all," said Evie.
"Nuh-uh, that's not all," deduced Mal.
"Well, what do you think happened?" asked Evie.
"Oh, some kind of private business," said Mal.
Evie quickly realized what Mal was implying. She puts both her hands on her cheeks and blushes due to embarrassment.
"Is it that obvious?" asked Evie.
"Only to me, apparently," said Mal. "Even before I knew what love was, I thought it was obvious."
"Why haven't you said anything?" asked Evie.
"Because you and Carlos are a couple of smart idiots," said Mal. "Plus, it's none of my business."
"Yet, you're making it your business now," pointed out Evie.
"Only because you two finally had a little moment together," said Mal, winking when she said "moment".
"Trust me. You don't even know the half of it," said Evie.
"You do know you have a boyfriend, right?" said Mal.
"I'm aware of that fact, Mal," said Evie.
"Then why? Why'd you and Carlos... you know?" asked Mal. "I mean, I know the what. I just want to know why the what happened."
"I... I don't really know," said Evie. "I'm so confused, M. I feel like a lost girl in a cold, cruel world."
"Let me ask you something," said Mal. "Are you planning on doing something about this?"
"I... I don't think I should," said Evie. "I really like Doug, Mal. I can't just forget about what he and I have."
"Then don't leave him if you don't want to," said Mal. "Like Belle said, follow your heart."
"You're a real friend, Mal," said Evie, smiling.
Mal puts her arm around and her friend and pulls her closer for a hug.
"I try," said Mal.

"This is gonna so much fun," said Lonnie.

"I know, but I just can't help it. My first real fight," said Lonnie.
The ride to the Isle was taking a while, so Jay decided to talk to Carlos about something.
"So... what exactly were you and Evie doing back on the Isle?" asked Jay.
"W-Wh-Wh-What?" Carlos was caught off guard by the question.
"Dude, I woke up from my nap and saw you two were gone. I was only pretending to be napping when you guys came back," said Jay.
"Hey, I just needed to get away from your snoring. Evie followed me," said Carlos, trying to make sure he sounds like he isn't hiding anything.
"Really, because the two of you sounded embarrassed or something," said Jay. "Did you two do something bad? You can tell me. I'm a VK too, remember?"
"Well, we did do something bad, but I'm not telling you," said Carlos. "Mostly, we were just thinking about old times."
"Old times?" asked Lonnie.
"He and Evie were really tight back on the Isle," said Jay. "They always hung out."
"Awww, that's cute," said Lonnie.
"She's like the big sister I never had," said Carlos. "And I'm like the little brother she always wanted, which is what she told me once."
"Awww," said Lonnie again. "At least you two had each other."
"Yeah, we did," said Carlos, smiling as he thought about the blue-haired narcissist who always brightened his every day back on the Isle. He would never admit it, but sometimes he wishes he can return to a time when it was just the two of them. They never had a one-on-one time with each other ever since they went to Auradon.
