Well, this is the final chapter. I know this kinda makes the story short, but I wasn't planning on making it long. I know the last chapter was kinda heartbreaking for Carvie fans, but this is a different kind of story, as I said before.
I just wish to deliver you a bittersweet, but emotional ending.

Everyone had just finished singing "You and Me", but the night was not over. Everyone was still dancing like they didn't want the night to end. Mal and Ben watched from above as everyone had an amazing time together.
Evie danced with Doug. From the corner of her eye, she can see Carlos dancing with Jane. She was happy that he found someone special, although she can't help but feel something negative within her every time she looks at them.
"Uh, Doug, if you don't mind, I'd like to talk to my friends for a moment," said Evie.
"Sure," said Doug.
Carlos was having fun dancing with Jane. She was having fun as well, as seen through her smile. He can only thank Evie for making this possible. He needed her approval, and she gave it to him. He wishes he can repay her somehow.
When he saw her walking towards him, he decided it was time for some one-on-one with her.
"Jane, uh, mind if we take five?" asked Carlos.
"Why?" Jane asked.
"I need to talk to Evie," said Carlos. "About the new villain kids coming to Auradon, that is."
"Okay," said Jane.
Carlos takes Evie's hand as they walk towards the railing, looking at the Isle of the Lost in the distance. Evie puts one arm around her friend and a hand on top of his. Carlos puts his hand around her waist.
"Beautiful view, isn't it?" asked Evie.
"Yeah," said Carlos. "It's too bad the Isle isn't so beautiful up close."
"I'm sure Mal will fix that," said Evie. "She's the Queen of the Isle. She won't just abandon her people."
Evie continued to smile as she stares at Isle. Carlos, however, was staring at her. Evie catches him staring, causing him to look away in embarrassment. She playfully pets him like a dog, making him blush.
"So, uh, about what happened on the Isle," mentioned Carlos.
"Still no regrets?" guessed Evie.
"No," said Carlos honestly. "You?"
"No regrets," said Evie sincerely.
"If we could go back, before all this, would you have taken the chance with me?" asked Carlos.
"Why wouldn't I?" replied Evie, leaning closer towards Carlos. "Who could refuse a chance with you?"
"Now-me or Isle-me?" asked Carlos.
"Both," said Evie.
Carlos can feel himself blush again. Evie pinches his cheek just to see him turn redder. He responds by nudging her shoulder. She counters by resting her head on his hair, causing him to turn even redder.
"You complete me," said Evie.
"And you me," said Carlos.
"Why do you think we feel so connected?" asked Evie.
"Fate. Destiny, perhaps," said Carlos.
"Yet, here we are, romancing with different people," said Evie with a slightly sad tone.
They both sighed simultaneously before saying, at the same time, "If only things were different."
"Okay, that was funny."
"You're doing it again."
"Cut it out!"
"Stop reading my mind!"
The two started laughing again. Evie pets Carlos again, causing him to blush again.
"Why us?" asked Evie. "I mean, the two of us, we bring out the best in each other and we make each other feel so alive."
"I think the answer is simple," said Carlos.
Carlos gives Evie a look that she immediately understood, as told by her smile. The answer to the question of why what happened between them on the Isle happened was very obvious to the two of them. It's too bad they couldn't act on the truth.
"Should we just spend the rest of our lives knowing but not acting on what we know?" asked Carlos.
"It's for the best," said Evie.
"But should we really keep this a secret from everyone?" asked Carlos.
"What happens on the Isle, stays on the Isle," said Evie.
"What happens on the Isle, stays on the Isle," repeated Carlos.
Evie plants a long kiss on Carlos' cheek, causing him to turn red again. The two stare into each other's eyes with smiles on their faces before looking at the Isle. They may not have been given a chance with each other, but knowing the truth made them feel alive and that was enough for them. No matter who they're with, they were still happy to have each other in their lives.
THE END
I know this isn't the kind of a happy ending you expect in a Carvie story, but I wanted to try something different. Sometimes, I prefer the little moments between a boy and girl instead of them actually being together. It intrigues me and makes me a little giddy. That's how I felt seeing Evie and Carlos together during "You and Me".
So, what do you think of the whole story? Leave a comment and let me know. Long or short, it's up to you.
In case you're gonna ask for a new Carvie story, well, I don't know when I'll make one, but I will make one.
