 You don't have to think twice
   Looking in my eyes

~~~
The face appeared out of nowhere, looming up from the red. Bright green eyes like the colour of deep forest pools, like that of springtime ferns and of freshly cut grass, the colour of pond scum, and of autumn carrot tops, the green of the first spring leaves on a plum tree, sea green, as green as summertime water trough.
The eyes that would stay with him forever.
And those brown locks, the colour of earth herself. He wore the colour of her soils in a way that no one else could, as if it was an honour.
Those were the only things Liam saw before black dots clouded his vision and all was black.
He was just making his way through the woods when the sweet scent of blood reached his nostrils.
He had been assigned to deliver a message to one of the king's subjects and had taken a stroll through the woods later, breathing in the country air when he stumbled upon a manor in the middle of the night. He didn't know what overcame him as he had jumped up onto the windowsill of one of the windows in the manor to find a boy lying in a pool of his own blood.
He rushed to his side and flipped him over, taking in his face for the first time.
"Who are you?", he asked the boy in wonderment as his hand reached up to touch his face. But before his skin could make contact with the boy's, his eyes fluttered close.
He saw the blood staining the sheets and again at the boy's face. He pried open the boy's mouth before biting into his own wrist, drawing out the blood and letting it drip into the boy's mouth. He bent down and swiped his tongue over the cut on the boy's wrist, tasting the sweet blood, the scent tantalizing his senses. Irresistible.
Just sinking his fangs further in the warm skin would all that would be needed to drink all that blood. Just a little bit.
The boy's heart beating away furiously was the only thing keeping him from drinking all the blood.
He pulled back and saw the slit closing up as the venom healed the skin, leaving back a thin pink line. The blood from his wrist was still dripping onto the boy's mouth as he started gaining consciousness.
He jumped out of the window and onto the ground before the boy could wake up. He could have stayed with the boy as he came to his senses, but he didn't. The blood was just too much for him. If he stayed any longer, his vampire instinct may take hold of him and he might do something that he might regret. And the boy had this charm that he couldn't put into words. He started running towards the city. Back into the chaos.
Eyes fluttering, the Liam reached out to his saviour, but before he could touch him, he had vanished.  He closed his eyes again, before drifting back into the blackness.
He woke up screaming in the middle of the night. Again.
It's been a week since the night he had tried to take his life. He never saw his rescuer again after that night. But those eyes haunted him every night. So did a pair of hazel brown ones.
No one in the family knew what happened, that all this has gotten too much for Liam to take in. That he had chosen to get away from here forever than stay back to be violated by a monster, who would take him away from the people he had loved all his life just to satisfy his desires.
And the dreams, they never made sense. One dream kept recurring all through the past week. Liam was standing in the middle of a forest, an unfamiliar one. He hears a ringing sound and starts running towards it as fast as his legs would take him. He comes to a halt by a pond, as clear as glass, reflecting the dark sky above. Suddenly, a strong pair of arms wrap themselves around him and he is spun around and is looking into the same pair of azure blue eyes flecked with green and gold that had imprinted themselves upon his mind. Ignatius. Though all of it is hazy, Liam can see that Ignatius has a unrealistic glow to his skin, like that of an angel and wings, as white as fresh snow. Ignatius was saying something, looking down at him, but he couldn't figure out what.
There's a sudden crashing sound and Liam looks up to small bright sparks flaring up in the sky. When he looks back down, it is the stranger with the green eyes who had saved him. His skin is glowing too, but the wings, they aren't fully white- they have have red, blue and black feathers tucked away at the edges and spread over the whiteness. The stranger says something and Liam can't understand but catches the end of the sentence, "... you will have to decide and when you do, there is going to be change." Just as he finishes, the bright sparks start falling towards the ground. They looked like fire balls, but when Liam looked closely, he could see that they had started moving. They took the forms of humans, spreading out what seemed like charred wings from their backs.
When Liam looks back, it's Zayn holding him, his hazel brown eyes searing with fire. His skin has a dark glow to it, like a black glow. His wings are black, the colour of the darkest night. He smiled down at Liam, a sinister smile that made him shiver. Zayn bent down and whispered in Liam's ear, his cool breath caressing Liam's exposed neck, "I've waited for you all this time, darling. And now, you are mine. Forever." He placed a tender kiss on Liam's neck before pulling back. Over Zayn's shoulder Liam could see the creatures that had fallen from the sky walk over the pond as if it were hard ground, their eyes blazing like fire.
 When he looked into Zayn's eyes again, the brown was almost invisible, instead his eyes were filled with blackness, all the white gone.
This is the point where Liam always woke up, screaming.
He laid back down again, and stared out of the window at the night sky. He thought back to that night when he had been so close to death. To being set free.
And the man who had saved him. Though he couldn't remember what happened clearly, those eyes never left him.
Those eyes that had kindness in them.
Those eyes where he could find solace that he couldn't find anywhere else.
If only he could see him again.
