"Grandfather! Grandfather! Where are you? Look what I can do!"

I giggled as I zoomed through the air temple on my air scooter. Only I wasn't on the floor, but on the ceiling, and I had a feeling that my grandfather would love to try it out if he saw what I had figured out how to do.

Then again, from what he told me, all air benders used to be able to air scooter on the ceiling, but not for an extended period of time. But now, I had figured it out!

"Graaaaaandfather!"

Suddenly I turned a corner and let out a screech as I lost my concentration and fell to the floor of the air temple. A chuckle sounded from above me as I shook my head and looked up.

A large smile broke out on my face as I saw what had spooked me. "Grandfather guess what!"

I lifted myself up off the floor and grinned at the gray-haired man, waiting for his response. He stroked his long beard as he pretended to think, before he finally said, "You're wearing makeup."

"What? No!" My face scrunched up in confusion. "We don't even have makeup in the temple. Guess again!"

"You cut your hair?"

"No."

"You contacted the spirit world?"

"No."

"You mastered waterbending?"

"No."

"You found a secret-"

"Grandfather!" My face was growing red as his grin grew wider, though I knew he was only teasing as we both broke out into laughter.

Once we had finally calmed down, grandfather let out a puff of air. "So what was the answer?" he asked.

I began bouncing in excitement once I remembered the original reason that I had been looking to find him. "Grandfather, I became master of the air scooter!"

"Is that so?" he scrunched up his face in concentration, his age becoming more apparent as he did so. "I guess if that's true... We should have a race!" his face broke out in a goofy smile once more, and I clapped my hands together.

"Alright gramps, around the entire Air Temple in 3! 2! 1! Bye!"

With a shout of glee, we both summoned air scooters, and off we went. I was in the lead for awhile, as I had gotten the head start, but grandfather was fast approaching, and I decided to show him my new move.

With a deep breath, zoomed up the wall to the ceiling and raced right above him. When I didn't move back to the floor after a few seconds, grandfather's face morphed into a mixture of shock and pride, but only for a second before a smirk overtook his face and the two of us continued on our way.

When we finally looped around to the final stretch of our race, we were side by side. I had dropped back down to the floor a few seconds before, and we both leaned forwards, determined to win.

At the last second, I pulled ahead, and reached where we had started with a triumphant shout. It was only after I had hopped off my air scooter with a laugh that I realized grandfather wasn't with me.

He had stopped before we reached the finishing point and was staring into the sky, a frown on his face.

"Grandfather?" I asked, rushing to stand by his side, "What's the matter?"

I looked up to the sky, wondering what could have caused him to purposely lose our race. That's when I saw it. A red bird was flying towards us, a metal tube on its back. However, as the bird landed, I knew that it wasn't the bird itself that worried my grandfather, but where it had come from.

The Fire Nation emblem was on the tube containing a message for my grandfather. I didn't even know that anyone knew we were still alive.

"What does it say? Is it important?" I asked him after he had removed the message from the bird. I shooed the bird off, while he read it, but from the look on his face, it most definitely was important.

"Grandfather what is it?" I asked again, growing impatient.

He still did not answer, and stumbled backwards, leaning against a pillar, his eyes wide with surprise. "Nyima..." he muttered, then looked up at me, "Nyima, the Avatar... He's returned!"

"What?!"

"After all this time the Avatar..." Grandfather was at a loss for words. My own eyes were as wide as the moon by now, and I couldn't believe my ears.

"Grandfather, do you mean... We're not the last ones anymore? We're not the last air benders?"

"No, Nyima! The Avatar! The Avatar has returned!"

Now, wonderful readers, enjoy this picture of  'Nyima' {She looks a lot like Korra but this is how I pictured her when I first came up with her character.} {This is not my picture}
