Jill opens her eyes and blinks the sleep away, the sunlight hitting her from the window is warm.
She looks around the bedroom, it's definitely her own.
She tries to figure out how she got there, the last thing she remembers is talking to Chris in his car.
'Did Chris carry me here? He could have just woken me up.'
Jill is interrupted from her thoughts when she hears a sound from the kitchen, the sink turns on and off.
'What the hell! Chris still here!'
The door opens and she stares at her partner standing in the doorframe.
"Chris?" She's startled at how hoarse her voice sounds.
Chris looks up from the tray in his hands.
"Sleeping beauty is awake!"
He smirks definitely enjoying the new nickname.
"Oof I would love to say the same but dang you look like you haven't slept."
Jill forces herself to talk not giving a damn about her sore throat.
"Well that's accurate then since I didn't heh."
Chris places the tray with a glass of water and porridge onto Jill's lap and walks over to the window and opens it slightly.
She realizes that she must have blanked out because Chris is looking at her with worry.
She gives him a warm smile not caring it's rare coming from her.
He blinks surprised and smiles back.
"Well good morning there sunshine. You have any camera lying around? Definitely need to catch this rare unnatural phenomenon!"
His smile turns into his famous toothy grin.
She snorts as an retort.
"Feeling better? I made breakfast so eat it will ya?"
Jill tries to sneak subtle glances at her partner, him standing in front of the window bathed in sunlight makes him look like a snack.
Jill mentally slaps herself, she must have hit her head.
"Thanks, when does work start?" Jill takes a sip from the glass of water trying to hold back the impuls of pouring it down.
Chris opens his eyes and stares at her with a frown on his face.
"Do you actually think that you are in any condition to work?" The comment triggers her and she puts the tray to the side roughly, causing some of the porridge to spill.
"I'm perfectly fi..."
She starts to cough, the movement was too much for her bruised ribcage.
The pain increase with every cough making it harder to breath and she starts to gasp for any air she can.
Chris is instantly by her side and places his hand on her back, patting it lightly.
She places her left hand on her chest thinking only about the intense burning sensation.

Her name reaches her ears and she opens her eyes unknowing she was closing them to begin with, she sees a glass of water in front of her.
She takes it and downs it eager for the cool to soothe her burning throat.
She looks at Chris and is going to thank him but notice him staring at her hand, she looks at her right hand and there's no doubt that those few crimson drops are blood.
"Don't worry." She blurts out doing a bad job at reassuring.
"Jill it's me for once let your guard down damnit."
Chris searches for anything in her grey eyes not letting her break the eye contact.
"I know, it's a bad habit." She chuckles lightly knowing she can't fool Chris, that won't stop her from trying though.
"The doctor told me that this was a potential side effect, my right lung and ribs took the impact, I'll be fine."
The intense gaze from Chris makes her shift slightly.
"Okay, I trust you.."
Their conversation is interrupted by the doorbell.

Jill moves the covers to the side but she's held down by two hands on her shoulders.
"Don't you even dare, you are not allowed to get out of bed Jill Valentine"
Jill glares at him while he's moving his finger with a no can do manner.
Chris leaves the room to check on the door, he doesn't see Jill giving him the middle finger behind him.
She can't help chuckle at her own silly revenge.
Barry's voice can be heard in the hallway, she stares at the doorframe waiting for the two to enter her bedroom.
"Hi Jilly, how's it going?"
"Better now thanks to my new slave."
'Was that a blush I saw on Chris's face?'
Jill smirks knowing her comment left an impact on her partner.
"Better be a kinky sex slave or I'm disappointed."
Barry blurts out and starts laughing his ass off.
"You know I never disappoint, Barry."
She responds with a nonchalant expression, Barry winks and laughs at Jill joining his teasing.
"That's my girl!"
Barry slaps Chris on his shoulder as a proud gesture, for once Chris is silent and lost at words.
"I need to talk to my union."
Chris jokes shaking his head.
Jill grins but something in Barry's hands catches her interest.
"Who's the flowers for? Better be for Kathy or I'll have to kill you."
Jill jokingly puts on a serious face.
"Oh, no I would never risk pissing you off Jilly, the flowers are for you honey from me, Kathy and the kids"
Barry's big grin on his face makes Jill smile.
"Thank you."
"I wish to stay longer but I have to get to the office I'm filling in for you two, something came up and we've recieved a report of some bizarre murders occurring in the Arklay Mountains, I read something about the victims showing signs of being eaten."
Jill frowns.
"Sorry you had to get called in I hope Kathy didn't give you a hard time?"
Barry lifts up his hand to stop her.
"Jilly, Kathy is worried sick about you and practically forced me out of the house, don't worry."
Barry starts massaging his right temple with his thumb.
"I'm more worried about this case, I have a bad feeling.
We currently have no leads, we got the case to investigate and for the sake of our city I hope we can solve it, apparently this is the case Wesker tried getting for weeks, and right so this isn't a mission for the local RPD."
Barry looks down at his watch.
"I don't want to be late so best I be going.
Jilly get well soon, we need you back and Chris try not to be, well you."
Barry hands over the flowers to Chris and waves off while leaving the apartment.

Jill lies down thoughts about the Arklay Mountains invade her mind but only having the information Barry gave them she can't make any conclusions.
Sleep wash over her and her body starts feeling heavy.
Chris is on his way through the door leaving her room.
"Don't leave..."
Chris quickly turns around facing her with a shocked expression, it disappears though when he sees the fragile sleepy form on the bed.
"Of course not you can always count on your partner."
He moves to the bedside table and places the flowers in a glass filled with water, he had left it there the night before.
He makes his way to the empty side of the bed, sits down, picks up his legs and stretches them out and rest his back against the bed frame.
She looks at him while he's making himself feel comfortable.
"Try get some sleep.."
He looks down at her and smiles that she worries about him.
"Don't worry I'm not even tired." He gives her a reassuring smile.
She just looks at him with a blank expression, he turns his gaze from her to the wall and then he feel something on his lap.
He looks down and see Jill using his lap as her pillow.
She's already asleep so there's no point in teasing her, he places his hand on her head patting it lightly, and then sleep consume him.
