chapter 9

  I'm waiting outside for Matt to arrive. It's fucking freezing out here. Oh there I see his red car pull over. Omg he's put on a cute beanie omgggggg!  Maybe he's just had a shower. And I look like shit. Omg I can't. This is too much.

         And I'm really shy infront of the people that like so I dont know whats gonna happen. Im scared tho

“Hey!! Get in lets go.” I get in without saying a word. He's staring at like something's wrong.

“Hi Rene do you wanna say something? Are you afraid?” Matt pats my shoulder while saying so. Omg I suck. I'm gonna talk now.

“Hii.. uh I just tend to get really shy infront of the people I like. Or maybe just someone hot for instance.” I don't even meet eyes with him while saying so.

  “Oh you're kinda shy. I did think so. But I must say.. you look really cute when you blush like that. So this clearly means I'm gonna have to be talking all the time because you wouldnt?” he questions

    “Uh..no I'm gonna talk too.. ” I say in complete denial of what he just said. Like I can fucking talk okay?

“okay as you say. We're here. They have the best ice cream in the whole of the town!”.

“Oh” I say in return. Well I must say the place is so beautiful and with all of those colors and decorating it looks so rad.

“The lady that works here is my mom's really good friend. So we wouldn't have to wait after ordering. Shall we get in?”

“Yeah sure”

We get in and this fat lady with blonde hair comes and hugs Matt. And says “you've come here after so long. I've missed you. After jo died I haven't seen you here around a lot. Im really sorry. And oh.. who is this beautiful young lady?

“Uh.. I know I never felt like coming here without mom it was just hard. This is Rene Desouza my student!”

I smile and say “hey it's really nice to meet you.”

“Oh she's you're student. She's really cute by the way. Why dont y'all go sit and I'll get the menu dear” she says and leaves

Omg I dint know Matt's mom was dead. I'm so sorry for him. What do I say how do I start the conversation it'll only hurt him even more. I'll just drop it for now and talk to him later about this when he's comfortable.

We move towards a corner table.
“What would you like to have young lady?” Matt asks with a wink

“I'll take chocolate chips in a waffle.” I blurt out without even looking at the menu.
“Okay chocolate chips it is.” Matt says

“Um. Would you get a chocolate chips in a waffle and tender coconut in a cone please bev” Matt order while I'm looking down on I dont know why I'm so shy I hate this.

“Sure son” she says and goes to place our order

Look up and notice Matt staring at me... His eyes are like a perfect spring sky. So blue . I haven't seen anything more beautiful. His jaw is so perfect. And his perfect facial structure and oh those pale brown hair look like the bark of an oak tree, not dark but simply gentle.

“ I can't believe I'm here with you. I din't think you'd come. Thanks.” Matt says politely. Still looking at me.

“Why..did you think I wouldn't come?” I ask out of curiosity

“Well.. you know cause I let you down once and then dint text you for a whole day. I was being a complete jackass.. that's why maybe" he blurts out.

“Um... You know I like to give people chances. And plus I'm sure you had a reason.  Can I ask you something?”

“Sure hun” Matt says

“ I dont want to sound weird or anything. But why are we here. And why is it only me who gets to have ice cream with you. And not any other girl from our class or is it that you're hiding something from me?” I speak rapidly and look at him..this time I dont even feel shy. Maybe I want my answers.

“Umm.. you know I don't know maybe the first time that I saw your eyes they're so green almost like emerald. I could get lost in them. You know. And you're rosy cheeks.. there was something maybe a feeling of connection. After a really long time I felt I found someone I could pour my heart down to. Maybe it was you. I might sound cheesy. But that is the truth.”

“I've fallen out of words to say Matt. Nobody has ever said this to me.” I say slowly.

“well uh.. let's eat ice cream first” Matt say. He looks so cute when he laughs and with those 32 whites. I swear.

“Haha yeah sure”. I start licking my ice cream. He looks at me and laughs
“Omg you look so cute when you eat ice cream.” Matt says still laughing

“Are you deliberately trying to make fun of me, Matthew Jones?” I ask almost laughing.

“No. I'm not. But it just makes me laugh.. its been so long that I had laughed this hard. Thanks Rene” he says

“ You're welcome always Matt.” I say with a blush.

We finish our ice creams and I look at the clock it's almost 7.30 I'm supposed to he home by 8 pm. Omg I've got to ask Matt to drive me back home.

“Um.. can you drive me back home?”

“I would've even if you wouldn't have asked lovely” he says with a wink.

“Oh thanks”

We get into the car and Mike puts on the radio.. and omg!!! It's shania twain's STILL THE ONE!! I love this song

We're both listening to this song. While this time it feels different

“I love this song. Always wanted to have someone to sing this  to.” Matt says. I dint know he was emotional.

“Honestly. Same. But I never found anybody I could sing this to” I reply in return

“Oh yeah. I feel you.” he says and we're both quiet for a while and this silence is not even awkward. Its pleasing. I feel good and cared for. I don't even know why.

“Thanks for this. And I had a amazing time with you. I hope we can do this again” I say

“Sure honey. Take care and I'll see you at school and yes don't forget to write that essay. ”

“ yes sir! As you say. ” I reply in a teasing manner

“good bye then” he says and leaves.

I stand there for a minute trying to recollect everything that happened today. It was a wonderful day.

I get home and go directly into my room so I can go change into something more comfortable than this. I'm done I should probably go check on mom.

“Mom I'm home.” I say.

“Yes dear I'll be there in a minute.” my mom says from some other room

We have dinner together and dad's gonna be late today because of his hetic work life. Aw

“Good night mom.” I say before going to bed

“Good night dear take care.” my mom says .
