"Morning." I mumble as I walk past my parents with a ear bud in my ear. I go to the fridge and take out the creamer as the coffee pot roars with fresh coffee. Five Finger Death Punch playing in my ears as I pour my morning coffee into a to-go mug.

"That isn't breakfast." My mom, Linda, says. I turn to her and look at her dark brown hair as strands slowly fall out of her bun.

"Would you rather me eat nothing? Plus it is seven in the morning, too early for me to eat." I say. "Speaking of which, I'm going to be late." I drink my coffee as I grab the keys off the counter but my mom grabs my hand.

"Your not driving to school." She says.

"What? You said the second month I can drive, its the second month of school now!" I say as she takes the keys from my hand. "Mom, I am a sophomore. I can drive. Everyone else drives to school too so why can't I?"

"Because nobody there knows how to drive yet. There was two accidents from kids at your school over the past two weeks and I don't want you to get hurt..."

"Whatever. Bye." I say grabbing my bag and throwing it over my shoulder as I walk out the door and to the bus stop. As I walk down the driveway I pass my navy blue truck in the driveway. I have had my license for three months now. My mom said the first month I can't drive without out one of them in the car just to 'make sure I wouldn't crash when I'm alone'. She said that after two more months I could drive to school so I can avoid the bus but, of course, she changes her mind at last moment. Others walk out of their houses to get to the bus stop as the cold October air hits my face. I look at the new house decorations people put up for Halloween as I pass. Most people use the first week of October to put stuff out because otherwise if you wait to long it gets too cold to go outside. Some people carved their pumpkins and put them outside, others put out plastic ghosts and ghouls to put out the Halloween spirit.

"Good morning, Laura." George, a neighbor says. Every year he goes all out on every holiday to make everyone smile at his house.

"Morning George. Decorations look great." I say stopping in front of his house and looking around at the spider webs, fake blood, pumpkins, etc.

"Thank you. Not as much stuff as last year. Some of it broke in the attic some how." He says scratching his head.

"Well, it still looks great." I say then start walking again as he waves. I look down at my converse as I walk so I don't have to see the jack asses I go to school with.

"You came to school today." Someone says. I look up and see Steven Greg, a guy who had a hard core crush on me last year that I turned down.

"Oh look, the jock strap can talk without having to coward behind his friends." I say looking up. One of the new kids in the neighborhood giggles.

"What are you laughing about?" He asks him.

"Your so cute." I say laughing at the ground. "You think your scary." I say moving my hands like I'm scared.

"What's your problem?" He asks walking closer to me.

"Oh sweetie. Your my problem." I whisper to him as the bus pulls up. I just walk up the stairs and look away from him as I sit down in an empty seat. I wait for him to walk past but he sits next to me.

"What do you want?" I ask pulling my ear bud out and taking a sip of my coffee.

"Why are you always like that?" He asks.

"Like what?" I ask.

"Bitchy."

"Because you make me that way." I say.

"Is it because you had a crush on me and I rejected you?" He asks.

"Uhm...my phone messages says it the other way around." I say.

"So, maybe it was." He says. "We can still be friends."

"Why?" I ask.

"You know, for you have someone to talk to." He says.

"Whatever gets you away from me quicker."

"I'll text you later." He says and I nod then watch him as he gets up and moves. I put my ear buds in and turn my music on as we drive toward the school. I slowly close my eyes and start to drift then my phone dings from a text. I look down and see a text from Steven.

Want to do something after school today?

I turn around and look at him and give him a thumbs up then turn back around and wait tell we get to school.
