Rewind

Hey readers! Another poem instead of a haiku! Don't hate me!

You think I'm some sort of tape
To play whenever you want
But you're five years too late
You've pressed my buttons for the last time
The day that you said goodbye

There's no coming back when you slammed the door
You can't return asking for more

How are you going to rewind all the years of pain
The fighting, the lies, the screaming inside
You want the girl twisted round your finger again
But she vanished the day you did
Your sorry is just a broken record
You chose your path, and so did I
And it's too late to rewind

Why are you coming back now?

Trying to relive your old memories
You want it all, don't ask me how
I've moved on to a better place
You wouldn't even recognize my face

You say you made a mistake
You're no longer a fake
And you wanna take me back again
But you don't even know me
I'm not the same girl
No longer your pearl
After all of the scheming, deceiving, cheating, leaving, and grieving, and bleeding, and freeing, and perceiving
You weren't worth my tears
I conquered my fears

The wound has been seared

The skies have cleared
And I'm never going back
You got you want so why're you throwing a fit?
But like Aslan said you may not always like it
Don't say that I'm hating on you
After all you put me through
Cause video killed the radio star
But you did much more than just mar
You ripped the heart out of the VHS
Just like Durbeyville did to Tess

There's no coming back when you slammed the door
You can't return, asking for more
Your sorry is just a broken record
And it's too late to rewind
