Samantha's POV

"Samantha Elaine!"

I groaned as I sat up. I had been laying on the bed for the past hour, trying to hide. Downstairs, my mom was hosting a small get together with her old friends from school. She was making me wear a dress, which I do not approve of. As you may realize, I'm a tomboy. I don't breathe or live on makeup like I know some girls at my school do. I don't even hang out with the girls. I hang with all boys. Cory, Callum, Jace, and Tony. They're my best friends. We've been friends since the first grade when I was about to punch Jace for stealing my juice pack. Don't ask me how we ended up friends, we just did. After I became friends with Jace, Cory, Callum, and Tony all became my friends too because they were Jace's friend. We've been pretty much inseperable since.

"Samantha, don't make me get up there!" my mom yelled. I rolled my eyes and looked at myself once more in the mirror. I looked awkward in the yellow dress. I looked beyond skinny in it, like in a not healthy way. I didn't really recognnize myself. The only thing that I see that is the same about me is the blue eyes I got from my mom and the brown hair from my dad. I sighed. I'd been looking in the mirror many times that day and my image never changed so I doubt it will now. I slipped into pink flip flops. It was pretty much the only girly thing I approve of. I tied my hair in the usual ponytail and headed downstairs. I saw my mom frowning at me.

"Sammy, you should leave your hair down. You look better with it down," my mom said. I shrugged.

"I'm fine, mom," I said. Her frown deepened. Soon there was a smile on her face when my dad appeared beside her. My parents are helplessly in love. They just connect. They met when my parents attended the all boys school my grandpa was the Headmaster of.

"Relax Ash, you already forced her in the dress. Don't torture her anymore," my dad said. I smiled at him. He so got me.

"Fine. I don't get her, I used to be so dressy when I was her age," she said as if I wasn't there. I rolled my eyes.

"Oh look, my baby sister is wearing a dress." I turn around and glare at my older brother Skylar. He's 3 years older, being 19, almost 20. He was back from college. He looks kind of the opposite from me. He got my dad's eyes and my mom's hair. I guess you could say he was hot. That was said from the female population of my school. Back when he was still in high school, girls used to be nice to me to get closer to Sky. I don't get and I don't pretend to.

"Shut up," I muttered. He laughed and walked off, probably going to hang out with Danny. Danny was Aunt Missy's kid. She's not really my aunt. She's my mom's best friend ever since high school. Aunt Missy also have 2 other kids, another boy and a girl. John is 15 while Erica is 12. Danny is 20.

"Ah, she looks so grown up!" It was Aunt Missy. I managed a smile at her. She was standing beside her husband, Uncle Tom. Again, Tom is not really my uncle. Sometimes, I wonder why Aunt Missy is with Uncle Tom. She looks like a freaking model, and well, Uncle Tom is the complete opposite. They fell in love, I guess. Not like my parents, but they did.

"Hi Auntie," I said. She smiled.

"God, why is your hair up? Put it down!" she scolded. I laughed.

"Give up Missy, she's stubborn," my mom said, sighing. Aunt Missy shook her head. I walked away from the two, who started talking about their kids' childhoods. Yeah, I did not want to hear the embarrassing stories my mom was about to tell. I bumped into someone. Uncle Carter. Again, not really my uncle.

"Hey Uncle Carter," I said. He winked at me. He's somewhat of a flirt. My mom says that's how he always is. He's with his daughter Lydia, who's 9. Lydia's mom is Lana. Uncle Carter and Lana aren't together anymore. They broke up a few years ago.
