Jace's POV
I've been really worried for Sam recently. She seems really weak and sick. That's not at all like her. She's
usually strong. She's been throwing up like crazy, she looks tired all the time, and she's been visiting the
bathroom more than I visit girls' houses. I froze. Oh God!
No! No! No!
Cory can't be that dumb. He's smarter than that. Crap! This cannot be happening. First Cory takes her virginity
away. If this happens, he'll take away her life too! What do I do? I mean, she can't know right?
I drove to the nearest pharmacy and bought 5 pregnancy tests. The lady at the front looked at me strangely and then
gave me a little lecture about being careful and getting protected. She then gave me this dirty look I wasn't
supposed to see but did anyway.
"Kids these days," she muttered before I walked out. I drove home and felt awkward. What if Sam really isn't
pregnant? What if she already checked? Would she feel offended or weird if I just hand these to her? I pushed away
the thought. It's better to be sure. I parked my car at my house and walked over to her house. She was probably
home. Let's hope her parents aren't.
I knocked on the door and a few seconds later, Sam appeared. She looked tired. Her hair was a mess.
"Are your parents home?" I asked. She shook her head.
"Mom is buying me some stuff and my dad is at work still," she said. I nodded and walked in. We walked up to her
and sat down on her bed.
"Sam, don't hit me or anything, but I got you something," I said. She narrowed her eyes at me. I handed her the bag
and looked at her expression. Her eyes widened and she started crying.
"You think I'm pregnant?" she wailed. I nodded slowly and wrapped my arms around her.
"It's just an assumption," I said. She cried louder.
"I just can't be. I mean I have my period!" she yelled. I winced at the word. Really, I didn't need to know that. I
rubbed her back and waited for her to calm down.
"You know, you could still bleed when you're pregnant. My aunt thought she had her period but turns out she was
pregnant," I said. She looked pained. She took the tests and went inside the bathroom. A few minutes later she came
out and sat down next to me. She wrapped her arms around me and held me tight. She looked so vulnerble right now,
which was different.
"Want me to call Cory?" I asked. She shook her head.
"I don't want to worry him. I may not even be pregnant," she said, looking hopeful. I nodded. All the signs were
there. I'm almost positive she was pregnant. I didn't tell her though. I could tell she knew.
"Jace, thanks for being here," she whispered. I nodded.
"Sam, I know this isn't a good time, but I like you. A lot. I just wanted you to know," I said. She looked at me
and had a slight smile. She kissed me on my cheek and sighed.
"You know, if you told me before, I might've punched you so that you could come to your senses, but right now, I'm
kind of happy you do," she said. I raised an eyebrow at her.
"So you like me too?" I asked. She shrugged.
"I don't know," she said.
"Will you go out with me?" I blurted before I could stop myself.
She laughed. "Sure," she said. I hugged her tighter.
"I'll be there for you, Sammy. It doesn't matter that your pregnant. If you are," I said truthfully. I've liked her
for too long to just stop because she may be pregnant.
"Thanks," she said hoarsely.I nodded.
"You know, just because I'm your girlfriend now doesn't mean I'll stop being who I am. I'm not going to act like
those girls you usually go for and I'm definitely not going to act like you're my everything," she said. I laughed.
"Wouldn't want you to," I said. She smiled then bit her bottom lip. It was almost time.
"What if I was pregnant?" she asked.
"We'll tell Cory and if he doesn't want the baby, I'll be the dad," I promised. She smiled.
"Isn't it so weird that just a few minutes ago, we were best friends. Then all of a sudden we're dating," she said.
I nodded. She got up and looked at the results. There was a small smile on her face a few minutes later. I stood up
and she handed me the first test. The result shocked me.
Negative.
*So yeah, during pregnancy, you could bleed (vaginal bleeding)
it could be a sign of miscarriage but not all result in one
