Winter Showcase

Kara's POV:

It's been a week, a week since the dance, a week since the day I humiliated myself in front of him. I can't even say his name without regretting what I did. I can't even think straight. Instead of passing him in the hall I go a different direction, just so he won't see me. I also haven't gone to Spanish in a week. I have been sitting in the cafeteria just waiting for the class to end so I don't feel awkward. It's hard not talking to him, we used to be best friends and I just ruined it.

"Kara... Kara snap out of it! What are you thinking about?" Lexi asked me.

"Just about how much of an idiot I am." I responded kind of mumbling.

"Oh my. Kara. You are not an idiot. He gave you mixed signals and you tried to ki-" Lexi tried to say but I interrupted her.

"Don't even say it!" I yelled at her.

"All I am saying is that it happens to all of us. I mean remember Em and Owen?" Lexi tried to reassure me.

"That was totally different Lex." I complained to her.

"It's the same thing. Go to Spanish, you're probably failing!" Lexi coaxed me.

"Ugh fine, and by the way I am not failing! Solid C." I said walking to the Spanish room.

I froze before I turned the handle; I just stared at the door.

"Are you gonna open the door, or should we just stand here all day?" This annoying girl said.

Ugh stupid Emma. Maybe I should teach her a lesson again. Well I guess she taught me a lesson, she was the one who slapped me.

"Uhhh hello? Earth to Loser." She said again.

I swung the door open and walked to my seat but someone else was sitting there. I guess we got a new seating cart. I walked up to the teacher and asked her where I sat.

"Back corner," She answered.

I got to my seat and just then Tommy walked in. I put my head down, pretending to look for something in my backpack. I looked back up, thinking that he would be gone.

"Hey um Kara, I haven't seen you in a while! Were you sick?" A familiar voice said. I turned my head and in the seat next to me was Tommy.

"Um yeah, a fever. Am I in the right seat? I should go ask the teacher where I sit again," I tried to say.

"Nope. You sit here. I noticed you were gone so I took notes for you!" Tommy exclaimed.

"Oh uh thanks, look this is uh really really awkward for me so I am just gonna ask for a new seat. I will talk to you later maybe," I told him.

"No Kara wait, your notes! And please don't go. I know this is awkward but I am going to try and make the best of it. Can't you just try that?" Tommy asked.

"I don't know, I guess," I replied.

"So are you gonna do the winter showcase?" Tommy asked me.

I'm trying to learn the conjugation of the word SALIR, can he not leave me alone. I just nodded my head.

"Oh Good! What song are you singing?" He continued.

"Oh um Jar of Hearts by Christina Perri," I answered.
