Chapter 10 / the hangout

The bell finally rang and I grabbed my stuff out of my locker when I get a text from Gray

Gray: meet me at my car

I walk there slowly so it doesn't seem like I'm too excited, When I get there Ethan, Matt and Gray are standing outside Grays car.

I smile and walk a little faster
"Hey guys" I smile
"Hey hey" the all reply
"Uh Matts coming over to chill tonight too, is that okay?" Gray says and for some reason I'm kinda mad
"Uh sure" I say climbing into the backseat

Don't get me wrong I love Matt, we've been friends since forever but I kinda just wanted it to be me and Gray.

We pull up to the Dolan house and memories of playing hide and seek and running through the sprinkler on the front lawn in summer come rushing back to me and I cant help but smile.

We get inside and Grays mom indulges me in a hug
"So good to see you" she says squeezing me
"I've missed seeing your pretty face run around the house" she smiles looking me in the eye
I laugh "its good to be back"
"And you" she says hugging Matt
"It's like old times" Ethan jokes and we all awkwardly laugh

We sit outside by the pool talking about school and stuff when I get a text from the group chat

Gal pals 🐸
Al 💗: I'm here doing math homework while Grace is getting some dickkkk
Sarah 💕: let her live dude
Me: i won't be getting anything thank you very much
Me: plus Ethan and Matt are here so we're just chilling
Al 💗: matts there?
Me: yep
Al 💗: has he said anything about me?
Me: nah and trust me if he does, I'll tell you
Al 💗: I love you, have fun x

"Don't you think?" Gray says nudging me
"Pardon?" I say looking up
"Mrs. V looks like she's been pregnant for at least 10 years"
"uh yeah" I say awkwardly
"What's wrong? Your usually the jokesta of the group" Matt says
"Really? Grace being funny?" Ethan jokes making me give him a glare
"Yeah she can actually be pretty funny sometimes" Matt winks at me
"I mean, I try" I say joking
"There's a lot we missed out on" Gray adds making it awkward

We all sit there silently before Lisa the twins mom comes out
"Hey kids, do you want something to eat?"
"Yes please" the three boys yell in sync

After a few minutes she brings out some food and they all dig in

"You having any Gracie bear?" Gray said almost dead seriously
"Gracie bear, oh my gosh I haven't heard that in forever" Ethan laughs making me embarrassed
"And that'll be the last time you hear it for a while" I roll my eyes at Gray
"Why don't you like it?" He laughs
"Don't make me bring up your old nicknames" I joke looking back and forth from Ethan to Grayson making them stop
"Fine, fine okay" Ethan says with his hands up in defence

We sat there for a little longer than I decided I wanted to go home
"Uh guys, I think I'm gonna head home" I say randomly
"Really? Why?" Gray says
"Uh not feeling the best" I lied so they'd let me leave
"Oh okay, I can drive you?" Gray said standing up
"Nah it's fine, I'll walk, the air will be good for me"

I popped my head in the kitchen to say bye to Lisa before leaving, just as I got down the long driveway to the road I heard big feet running behind me

"Grace, wait"
I turned around to see a puffed Grayson
I smile and he stops, putting his hands on his hips puffing as he walks towards me
"Can I walk you home?"
I smile "sure"

We start walking and at first there's nothing but heavy breathing and a couple flys buzzing around
"Uh sorry about Matt, we were hanging out today and I just thought it'd be cool to invite him over"
"It's fine" I say
"But we should still hang out, like just us ya know?" He says scratching the back of his head
"Yeah" I reply with no effort
"I mean, we don't have too" he says quietly
I look up at him "Gray I wanna hang out with you"
"Oh, really? I thought you were just being nice" he says seeming happy
I laugh "nah, we should hang out more"
"Yeah, yeah we should" he says and I catch him blushing

Once we get to my house we stop at the driveway
"Well thanks for um.. walking me home" I smile
"It's fine, thanks for letting me" he jokes
"Well I'll see you tomorrow?" I say walking backwards towards the door
"Yeah, I'll see you tomorrow" he says and begins walking away as I close the door I peep out the window and see him saying something to himself

Graysons pov
"You should of hugged her, you idiot" I mumble to myself
I don't know why but I've always had a thing for Grace ever since we were little. She was the first girl I ever said I love you to and I was only 5

Speaking to her now just reminds me of how much I miss her, seeing her cute face everyday and just being able to hug her and tell her everything. When we were little I always thought she was gorgeous but now that's she's grown up shes only gotten hotter. I don't know why she doesn't already have a boyfriend.
