*Honestly THIS is the version of Jimin that looks the most like Marius!
Marius looks at his phone to see someone calling him as we walk along the pond.
"Papa!"
He squeals with excitement once he answers it.
We sit down on a park bench while I refill my camera with more film.
"Yeah, I'm doing great! It's beautiful out here!" He says and I hear a sniffle.
I look over to see him tearing up a bit.
Did he miss home already?
"Yeah...I know you are." He says and wipes a tear before it can fall. "Of course papa. I love you too."
He says and hangs up, looking out to the river.
"How does your dad feel?"
I decided to break the small silence between us.
"Huh?" Mari raises an eyebrow.
"Well you said you papa is proud of you but how does your dad feel about you being here?" I explain and he looks down at the ground.
"I wouldn't know."
He says and looks back to the river. The birds chirp behind us and the sun is suddenly covered by clouds. Did he not get the chance to say goodbye?
"My dad is dead. He died in a military accident last year,"
He explains and I instantly regret asking the question.
"I'm sorry, I didn't know." I try to backpedal but he shakes his head.
"So I guess I'll never know how he feels about it or if he's even proud of me. But I do know I'm going to work my hardest to make sure I can live up to his name. I won't let him down."
Mari says with the brightest smile even though his hands were balled up into tight fists.
"Let's get back. Huh?"
He gently punches my shoulder as we walk in silence across back to school.
