I was living in a one story house when the water started to seep in. The water just kept moving in faster and faster.

My mom had told me to pack a bag the night before in case anything like this would happen. She thought at the worst we would get maybe one inch in our house. Except there was rain water seeping in through the roof of my older sisters room. She started to worry that the roof might collapse.

I couldn't comprehend what was happening. It all was so sudden. One minute I was laying in bed and the next I was swimming in the flood water.

I started to cry. I couldn't deal with this right now. School was just about to start but that shouldn't have been my main priority right then. I needed to stop.

Just stop...

I needed to calm down.
"I am going to be ok," I told myself.

Then that's when I heard it.
A scream...

My older sister, Anna, was screaming out my little sisters name, Ava.

Ava was caught in the current. She was drifting away. Immediately my mom dropped our dog, Buddy. My mom swam over to Ava as soon as she possibly could.

Ava, who was carrying the other dog, started crying and screaming.

My mom heroically pulled Ava out of the current and saved her life.

We decided it was not safe enough to cross the street. We must go to a different house. So, we started heading to Bob's house.

Bob was a mean older man. He had a two story home that didn't seem to have any water in it yet. But we had to stay safe. We were determined to get to Bob's house which was right in front of ours.

When we got there, Bob and his wife told us we were not allowed to sit on their furniture, and they also stated they did not have any food or water to share with us. We were in disbelief. We could not believe how someone could be so horrid to us in a time like this.

Eventually we left Bob's house because of the fact that he would not turn his electricity off after the water got past the outlets in his house. This was a very dangerous thing to do and we deemed it unsafe to stay in there any longer.

This was when we ventured over to a flooded house. To get there we had to attach a rope to a tree and swim across water that was over our heads. But it was worth it because we met some very nice people who had helped us very much. They gave us food and water and stocked us up with dog food. They helped us and later on they were able to get rescued.

That was when we went on a little bit further, and we traveled to another two story house that still had no water inside the house at all.
