That was when we went on a little bit further, and we traveled to another two story house that still had no water inside the house at all.
*
We rang the doorbell, and the very kind people came out. They brought my whole family, including our four guinea pigs and two dogs, inside and gave all of us clean clothes to change into.As soon as we stepped inside, my dad returned from scoping out the whole neighborhood to see if there were any places where people were getting rescued. My dad had been helping us this whole time in many different ways.
When my mom dropped Buddy, he picked him up and saved him from floating into danger. When we were crossing the water that was over our heads, my dad brought us across on his back holding onto the rope that he securely created for us.
Back to the story...
These very kind people were helping us and all of our animals stay safe from the weather that was building up. They were also sheltering a few other families. The people were doing a Mitzvah protecting all of these people and their animals. Especially since the mom, Mrs. Ella, was allergic to animals.
They gave us food and water to snack on until it was time to eat a real meal. The first night of this disaster we had a great meal. They cooked lobster, steak, and chicken for everyone there. They fed everyone enough food and it was definitely great quality food! It was nice to have a good meal with all of these families together, and it was an amazing feeling to just stop thinking about the flood for a small period of time.
While my family was inside this house, we had to make some tough decisions. We had to decide where we wanted to go and what we wanted to do. On Tuesday we found out that FEMA gave us two free hotel rooms for our family. We decided that we would use these hotel rooms for a few days and then we would drive far away to a new home.
In a matter of one day my parents found a house 1036 miles away. They also researched some schools in the area and figured out where the kids in our family would go.
We were already planning on moving to a certain place in a year because Anna wanted to go to college in this specific place. So, we decided it would be best to move there now.
We stayed in these kind people's house for three nights. The first day was Sunday when it all started. Then we left on Wednesday morning when the floodwater had drained, and another person hosted us at their house.
This was the second family that had actually hosted us. They were also very kind and sharing. These people had others come over and bring donations for us all day Wednesday. People brought us all of the necessities. They brought us clothes, toothbrushes, toothpaste, shoes, and way more.
We ventured over to the hotel on Thursday and we slept there until Saturday morning when my uncle came into town.
My uncle came with a u-Haul full of donations and a bed for me. He traveled all the way there just to help my family out.
The whole day Saturday we went to our house, that had water which was up to our waist , to sort out the wreckage. We also went through bags of clothes donations that people had sent to us from all over.
Once we were done sorting through all of our devastating wreckage, we went back to the hotel with my uncle and we all fell asleep.
In the morning when we woke up we were ready to move onto our new home 1036 miles away.
