Joey's POV
I laid on the couch, taking a break from unpacking the boxes. Dad had gone to set up things at his work and would be gone for a few hours. I unzipped my bag and pulled out my laptop. I smile as I see Skype messages from Andrew. Going through them made me laugh, but made me hate the move more than I already did.
I call him, but he doesn't answer. So, I decided to leave him a little message. "Hey Andy. I really miss you. I mean a-all of you, but you mostly," I could picture him laughing as I spoke, "So I'm almost done unpacking and when I am done, we can chat later. I love you Andrew," I say, kissing the screen. "Bye." I close the laptop and continue unpacking and set up my bedroom.
I had just plugged in my laptop to charge, when Andrew Skyped me. "Hey Joey," He said. Willow popped up in the background. "Hi Joe!" She squealed. "How's Providence?" Andrew asked. "Its okay," I admit, "I just wish I had a friend." Willow smiled softly. "It'll be okay Joey. You start school tomorrow, right?" I nod. "Then you can make friends there," She said.
"Willow, can you give Joey and I some time?" Andrew asked. His sister giggled. "Okay, okay. I know when I'm not wanted. I'll leave you two be," She said, leaving the room. At least from my view. "I miss you," I say. "Joey, it's only been one day," He chuckles. "But I really do. Andrew, you were my first friend. Hell, you were my first boyfriend!" I say. "I know," Is his response.
"What do you think it's gonna be like?" He asked. "Terrible," I scoff. "Why?"
"Because I have my Boston accent. I'm gay, and I'm new in town. How could that possibly not go wrong?" I rant. "Calm down Joey. Look you might have that precious accent of yours, but do you think you're the only one who has that?" He asked. I blush at his compliment. "No but-
"Or the fact that you're not the only new kid in Providence," He added. Andrew was right, I hated when he was right. It always gave him bragging rights. "Or the news that you aren't th only gay kid in Providence either," He said. "I guess you're right," I say sheepishly. "Of course, aren't I always," He winked.
"You're lucky I can't slap you Andrew," I laugh. "Hm, just my luck," He smiles. I immediately imagine his arms around me. An embrace I'll probably never feel again. "I gotta go finish unpacking," I say. "Aw, okay Joey. I'll text you later. Goodbye kiss?" Andrew said. He puckered his lips and closed his eyes. I rolled mine and kissed the screen again. "Thanks, bye lovely," He waved. "Bye Drew," I smiled. He hung up.
I finished unpacking until there were only seven boxes still taped up. The apartment didn't even seem close to finished. "Hey Joe. Nice job," Dad said, walking in. "Thanks. T.V. and a few other things still need to be plugged in," I told him. "I knew you'd leave me something to do," He laughed.
"I'm all done with the office, and we can procrastinate a bit. Want some lunch?" He joked. "Yeah," I said, smiling. "C'mon then. We can get to know the city. Welcome to Providence," He said, opening the door.
