Anika's POV

Today was the day. My best friend Savera and I were moving together to America. We live in Sydney Australia and we have grown up here since we were born. Her mum had got a transfer job to America and I lived with them. I was adopted into their family about 6 years ago. When i was 9 my parents died in a car accident and my family lived all around the world so I couldnt live with them. My grandparents were the closest but they moved into a nursing home and couldnt look after me. I did live with my older brother for a while after our parents died. He was 19 and he had enrolled in the army. He also couldn't look after me so Savera's family adopted me. Our families were super close. Savera and I were practically twins since we were born. We did everything together and now we were moving to America together.

We had packed up our room and had only a carry on backpack full of food for the long plane ride and some small luggage. The removalist truck was outside our house witb all our furniture and cardboard boxes with our stuff. We said goodbye to our neighbours who were the best. We were such goofs but they were the best. When we were younger they would let us play with their garden hose when it was hot and feed us cookies all the time. We were so sad tha we were leavin them. They were honestly the best neighbours. I feel kind of sorry for them. Savera and I loved pulling pranks on people and I think they were always first on our list because they lived just next door. We jumped into the car and pu the window all the way down and blasted our music. The song was Yo gotti Rake it up ft.Nicki Minaj. We cruised down the street imagining we were in a music video. We stuck our tounges out as the wind blew in our hair. We did everything in slo mo and it looked lit especially with this song blasting through the speakers. We waved good bye to everyone on the street and did some dance moves. We were leaving our old lives behind now and were getting a new start.

The school we now no longer attend was horrible. We had no friends there and the teachers had no emotion. They didnt care about the students and looked dead af. We went to an all girls school which was a terrible idea. There were different 'groups' of girls. There were the popular ones, the nerds, the sporty girls, the gossip girls, the good girls, the quiet girls, then there were girls who didnt really belong to a group. Savera and I were two of those girls. We had a bit of everything. We were both reallt athletic and played 7 different sports, we loved history, we were good with electronics, we were some what popular, we always played jokes and pranks and the nice teachers loved us. We tried to be friends with everyone but we never did fit in. We didnt mind becaue we had each other. The popilar girls were Florence, Hannah, Meredith, Sarah and Tanya. They were always picking on other girls and talking sh*t behind their backs. Nobody liked them but everyone was too scared to confront them because theywould go around telling everyone that they would bash them up if they tried to argue with them. They never scared me and i wasnt afraid to confront them. And that exactly what i did.

One day, i was walking with savera in the hallway. Today was a book parade for the primary school (Kindergarten to Year 6) Miss Philiss had asked for Savera and I to dress up for the kids. She said that it would go towards our community service grade so we both agreed. We were dressed up in onesies. I felt really embarrassed but i wasnt there to look good. Savera was also wearing one. When we arrived at school alot of people were looking at us weird. Savera and i shrugged and kept walking. We were walking througbt eh halls of the school towards Miss Philiss's classroom when the popular group came out and looked at us. They burst out laughing and teasing us. I looked over at Savera who had a resting biatch face on. She obviously didnt give 2 sh*ts about what the Kool Kids Klub (KKK)thought and that was one of the things i admired about her. They had finally stopped laughing and Florence (the gang leader) looked me up and down and smirked at her friends. She looked at me and said "Oh, you look beautiful" her friends burst out laughing. I looked at her and said "I wish i could say the same about your face". Her gang stopped laughing and were taken back. Florence turned around and looked at me. She was raging but i didnt care. She came up to me, her face rugh next to mine and she started to talk. I didnt want to hear what she had to say so i said "oh my gosh Florence, get some breath mints". She stopped talking as her friends tried hard to not laugh. With that Savera and I pushed past their group and walked into the room. Later that day, Savera and i were talking about what had happened earlier. "I feel so good after that" we both said almost in sync. We crashed down laughing at what i said to florence. She seemed pretty pissed but i was glad." Im not really gonna miss that school" she said. Neither was I. We are going to a new school in New Jersey and we honestly cant wait. We have seen it all in movies about american high schools and now we were going to one ourselves.

As we arrived at the airport, we checked in our baggage. We had 30 mins till our plane boarded. Savera and i decided to go for a walk for a while. We went t BOOST JUICE and bought a large smoothie each. We went into a suvioneir shop and bought a small stuffed toy and neck pillow for the plane ride. We boarded the plane as we watched the sun set over Sydney. We were gonna miss this place. We had made so many memories here and made a couple of friends along the way. New Jersey here we come. We both dozed off into sleep. We were in for a long ass flight.
