Chapter 4

(Continued from previous page) *ANIKAS POV*

"Grayson?"

"Anika? What are you doing here?"

"Im your new neighbour."

We were interupted when Lisa asked if we wanted to come inside. We agreed and walked into the house placing ourselves on the couch. "So, you guys have met already?" Lisa asked Grayson. "Yeah, we met at school, i was showing them around because they are starting next week" he said smiling. "Well i guess you guys can walk to school together, if thats what 16 year olds do now?" Lisa said giving Savera and I an agreeing look. We both nodded and turned to Makena. "I think thats a great idea!, they can be besties and eat lunch together, and ,oh wait, what if they have the sa- "OK MUM!" Savera said loudly making Makena jump. I chuckled to myself. Then Lisa asked if we would like to stay for dinner. I was hesitant but Makena quickly said yes so i had no choice. We hadnt really gotten to know the twins yet and they were basically our 'first friends' so what better way to spend it than at their house rating dinner with them.

It was now 7:36pm and Lisa had made Spaghetti Bolognese. We all helped set the table and get the plates and cutlery from the cupboards and drawers. Another girl came in the door. She looked like Ethan and Grayson but slightly older and of course long hair and a girls face. "Hey mum, and guests" she said as she put her bag on the floor. She came up to Savera and i and we introduced ourselves. "Well im Cameron but you can call me Cam. Im Ethan and Graysons older sister btw but im glad to meet you guys, oh yeah and i heard your coming to our school, how exciting" Cam was in year 12 so she barely got to know any new kids. She agreed to help us get used to American school life and adjust to everything. She was so nice to us and even tho she was a couple of years older, i could tell we would all be good friends.  We all sat down on the table. There was bread and butter and a bowl of 'spag bol' on the table. Sean (ethan and graysons dad) joined us at the dining table as we all introduced ourselves. Ethan came and sat next to Savera and Cam was on his other side. Savera blushed as he sat next to her, their shoulders brushing against each others. Grayson came down and sat next to me. I blushed a little as his leg was touching mine. I could feel the mucles in his body as he reached for the bread. I tensed up as he leaned across me to get it. He must of felt it in my leg because he looked at me with a look of 'are you okay?'. I nodded and he sat back down his leg still touching mine. I must admit, i did have a big crush on Grayson but i barely knew him. I guess its a good idea that we came to this dinner.

I looked over and saw Savera and Ethan having a great conversation. I turned to Grayson who was slurping his pasta. "So, whats the school like?" I felt so embarrased. What even is that question. What was i thinking? He probably thinks im a weird kid who likes school. I was about to look away as my face was now going red when Grayson cleared his throat. I turned and faced him, he was looking deep into my eyes. I stared straight into his. I hadnt noticed how beautiful they were before. He had hazel eyes with brown inthe middle an the green blending into it. He was absolutely perfect. I kept staring until he spoke up. "Its pretty good. Ethan and i dont really hang out with any one except ourselves really. We are on the wrestling and lacrosse teams and thats the only reason people really notice us to be honest. We dont really have good friends. There used to be a kid named Jimmy Beckett, he used to be like the school bully, nobody really liked him but they wanted to be his friend so that he wouldnt pick on them. Ethan and i were never scared of him so one day, Ethan and i were walking through the halls when Jimy came up to me and pinned me against the wall. He said that i had been flirting with his girlfriend Sarah, but actually, she had dropped her books and i helped pick them up for her, he threw a punch at my face, not knowing that i was on the wrestling team and i pinned him on the ground holding him in a position that he couldnt move. He got expelled so now he cant 'bully' anyone".

"Wow... Grayson, your such a great guy. Jimmy was just too blind and focused on the negative things". He smiled looking deeply into my eyes, goosebumps surrounding my whole body. Why is he so perfect? I keep asking myself. Im shocked that no one wants to be his friend, let alone that he doesnt have a girlfriend. He is everything a girl would want in a guy. I was snapped out of my daze when Grayson touched my arm. His skin was so soft on mine. I turned back to him after day dreaming and he asked me "What was your school like?". "Mine, was absolutely terrible. I went to a catholic, all girls school. We had to wear heavy, itchy, ugly looking uniforms and blazers that were way too big to fit us. Our shoes were so heavy and we had to wear skirts that went past our knees and thick, wool stockings. We had wide brimmed hats and we werent allowed to wear earings or any jewellery. We also had to go to church every morning and it felt like we were trapped in a prison. The teachers had no emotions and were just plain evil. Im so glad we moved here. Our school honestly sucked. There was also the popular group there. They were really nasty and didnt like it when other girls were etter than them. The head leader Florence and i had an argument on my last day. I just let out my emotions and it was honestly the best day of my life. Savera and i were like you and Ethan, we didnt really belong to a group, rather we stuck to ourselves, i mean after all, we are basically sisters."

"Wow... that sounds harsh, but at least you guys had each other. I cant imagine being somewhere without Ethan" he said. We both chuckled as Lisa brought the ice cream and some chocolate sauce. We all helped ourselves and Lisa asked if we could all do the dishes while her and Sean 'got to know' about Makena. As they walked to the living room to talk about life and everything else they talk about, Savera, Ethan, Cam, Grayson and I walked into the kitchen holding the plates and bowls. Savera and Ethan were washing, Gray and i were drying and Cam was packing away. We played some music and danced in the kitchen for a while. After that we all sat at the table and talked until midnight. I definitely had grown a relationship with he twins. I was really glad to be friends with them. I felt as if we had bonded more with Ethan and Grayson and that we would all be best friends. It was almost half past 12 so we decided that we should head home. I turned to Grayson who was sitting at the table with Savera, Cam, Ethan and I. We all stood up and got in a group hug before walking to the door. I turned back and Grayson looked back "ill see you on Monday" he said smiling. "See you then" i replied. We reached our house and i tely fell asleep smiling and for some reason, excited to start school.
