“Please, please, please...can I come too?”

“Now that’s just plain nagging Lydia.” Lydia pouted and I laughed at the pair. They had a very weird work-relationship dynamic that bordered between a partnership and a mother-daughter relationship.

“Okay, if you guys are done, can we go? I have a car to check out.” Davis laughed from beside me and I smiled back at him. He was also finding their exchange very entertaining.

“They are like a married couple or a mother and her daughter sometimes.”

“My thoughts exactly,” I answered him laughing heartily at his very accurate comparison.

“Let’s go. I don’t think they are about to finish this argument soon.” I nodded in agreement and slipped into the front seat of his Mercedes. He closed the door behind me and jogged over to the driver’s side, settling in just as I finished clasping on my safety belt. I watched him repeat that same routine, looking sharp in a dark blue suit and a light shirt and my heart fluttered. He then turned on the ignition and we pulled out of the Publishing house parking lot, leaving a very surprised Linda and Lydia behind.

“So, are you excited?” he asked, turning to me with a bright smile.

“I am. My first car! I can’t believe they found the colour.”

“That shade of bronze is not easy to find. I must say, you really are a lucky girl.”

I laughed at his comment.

“No, I doubt it.” I told him truthfully as my mind went back to the last few days. Monday had been horrible and Tuesday had been no better. It was amazing that I was even able to finish that book and show up for the meeting that day, especially with all the crying I had been doing.

“I mean it. There is so much favour in your life that I am thinking of sticking around just to see if it will rub off on me.” I was surprised by his comment and as I turned to face him, I found him giving me a very meaningful look and my heart fluttered once again. He didn’t say it outright, but we both knew what he had meant. That was an admission that he was planning to pursue me and I was not sure how I felt about it. Sure, his attempts to woo me would be an interesting twist to my very dull life, but still, I felt a little apprehensive. “We are here,” he told me as he parked in front of the same megamall we had visited on the main highway. I looked through the showroom windows to see if I could spot it and I almost let out a squeal of delight when I saw it. As a result, I took too long to get out and it gave Davis the opportunity to help me out once again. I smiled at him as I took his hand and stepped out. He then closed the door behind me and locked the car with his remote control key.

“Welcome back!” A beaming salesman greeted us at the door before leading us back into the show room. “I believe we found what you were looking for. You are one lucky girl.” he added still beaming.

“I keep telling her that, but she just won’t believe me.” Davis replied lightly as he gave me another of his huge smiles and the salesman looked at us still smiling.

"You two are together?"

"No." I responded too fast and it caused Davis to grin back slyly as I felt myself blush.

“Okay then. This way please,” the salesman said, leading the way to the brand new, bronze Toyota Land cruiser VX V8 that was parked in a show room corner.

“That is one big vehicle!” Davis exclaimed as we come to a stop beside it.

“Yea compared to yours, but I have a family, so...” Davis agreed, shaking his head in understanding as the salesman fumbled with his pockets and got out a remote control key that he used to open up the vehicle.
