The ambulance rushed into Mae’s house as she was trying to help Jessica a little. A woman took Mae away from Jess as the man who was with her took care of her. She started asking her lots of questions to have a better idea of what was going on with her sister. They took Jess to the hospital and Mae jumped into the back seat of the ambulance. Jess wasn’t screeaming anymore but moaning. She took her hand and squeezed it whenever it hurted. Mae held on her tears on the road to give Jess a bit more courage. They arrived to the hospital quickly.
“Don’t worry, it’ll be alright” Mae said to Jessica as she let her go. Mae’s family arrived a bit after that because they were out when all of that happened. Mae explained what happened, but this time she let her tears fall freely down her face. Helen entered the room about 5 minutes later. She just hugged her and the pain started to fly away. The waiting wasn’t quite as long as it was the other time, but when the doctor arrived the same feeling went through Mae’s body.
“Don’t worry, Jess is going to be alright. What she has lived today is really rare reaction to a horrifying event like car’s accident in her case. Basically, what happens is that the brain will reproduce the pain that the person has lived in that special event if you want.” The doctor explained. Mae was horrified. Questions started popping into her mind. Horror scenes where her sister crawls into such pain every day and can’t ever get rid of it.
“Of course, we can make it dissappear. The medicaments will help it, but the results won’t be the best without regular sessions with a specialist.” Mae let a sight through her mouth as the doctor announced the good new. They would let Jessica out tonight and give her medicamentations so this wouldn’t happen until she visits the specialist. All the family went back home. Mae could still not sleep that night. She was checking to see if she couldn’t hear some screams from Jessica even thought she knew there wouldn’t be.
-The next day-
Mae woke up and saw Harry had texted her multiple times. Helen must have told him about Jessica. She answered them and explained everything. She logged on twitter and saw lots of sweet messages like: “stay strong” and “directioners pray for Jessica.” she quickly typed: “thanks for the messages to Jessica. I’ll tell her you support her. btw, she’ll be alright, nothing much to worry about. xx” Oh, how she loved this fandom!
She ate breakfast and headed to school. Tomorrow was the prom and Mae tried to focus on that other than her sister. She prayed for not having post-its again on her locker, but luckily she didn’t and she just got to her class like usual. Science first. She sat to her usual place next to Helen as the teacher started his class.
“So, I know you guys all are thinking about the prom tomorrow, but I’d like to talk to you know about a subject that really means a lot to me. I want to talk about car accidents.”
No way! She did not just hear that. Helen turned to Mae with a surprised yet comforting look on her face. Mae’s jaw dropped and the teacher started talking about that subject that would make Mae burst out into tears by the end of the class for sure.
**
Time passed and Mae tried to make a shield to escape from facing that horrible lesson about car accidents. The teacher was talking, the students giving looks at times and still listening. Somehoe the teacher once said: “Most accidents are caused by alcohol. Drivers who are under acohol’s effect have less reflects so they cause many deads or hurted people.” That was it. Mae burst out into tears. She jumped from her seat and started walking away from class. The teacher stopped her.
“Excuse me sir. I can’t take it. My sister was lately involved in a car accident which almost took her life away. Last night, she got loads of pain and we figured it was a rare reaction to those kinds of accidents. In which case, the brain reproducts the pain that was lived in the accident. I think I know enough about that subject. Now will you just let me go.” Mae snapped at her teacher. She didn’t mean to scream, but it seems like she did, because all the students had dropped their jaws and the most sensitive people even let a couple of tears out of their eyes. Mae’s teacher let her arm go and Mae walked out of the class. She took her phone out her pocket and walked to the toilet. She quickly taped on her screen and called home to check out on Jess. Turned out she was okay, but just talking to her made her feel a bit better. Now, Mae couldn’t simply imagine go to the prom and have fun the following day.
