part 28-(The unexpected)

A shadow moved out of nowhere smirking evilly at the happy faces un front of him. He silently tampered the wires of the mike system sending electric triggers along the standing mike on the stage. He moved to a side to pose as a silent listener keenly interested in the show.

Avni stood on the stage inhaling the positivity around her. The mike was just at the correct height for her that she didn't have to adjust it.

Avni: Namaste. Today, I am here to perform as a part of the competition. Lekin mere liye, ye wo opportunity hai jiski zariye main apna dil kholke rakh sakti hun.
Kehte hai ki humari kismat hum khud likhte hai. Agar aisa hai, tho meri kismat ne mujhe kuch aisa diya hai jo maine kabhi maanga hi nahi. Meri kismat se tho main apni saari ummeeden chod chuki thi. Lekin phir meri zindagi me aisa koi ayaa jisne mujhe jeena sikhaya. Mujhe ye yaad dilaya ki main hasna abhi thak bhooli nahi hun. Mushkilon ka saamna karte huye jin rishton se mera bharosa uth chuka tha, un saare rishton pe mujhe vapas bharosa karna sikhaya. Har museebath me mera saath diya. Meri har khushi ki wajah bana. Aaj meri saans shuru bhi usi se hothi hai.. aur khatam bhi. Maheenon saath bithane ke baad, aaj bhi jab main use dekhti hun tho lamha tham sa jaatha hai. Mujhe khud apni kismat par naaz hothi hai. Aaj bhi mera dil dhadaktha hai..

Tears overflew her eyes out of happiness. Her family gleamed in joy.

Avni: Yahi kehna chahti hun ki..
I love you Neil.. Bahot pyaar karti hun main tumse. Khud se bhi zyada..
And this is for you...

Neil's eyes were filled with tears. He never expected her to open up her feelings in public. He was in love with her this brave side. He smiled through his tears at her.

Avni's voice echoed in the hall..

Avni slowly took her hands to grip herself on the standing mike engrossed in the music. Neil swayed to her music and drooled over his wife. Just then, Rahul sprang up from nowhere and ran towards Avni. He pushed her down and she fell with a thud on the floor. His foot hit the mike stand. It fell on him and he shivered under electric jolts. Neil ran towards him and switched off the main power supply. Rahul's body had stiffened and laid still. Neil checked his pulse and heartbeat and found a feeble hope. He rushed him in ambulance to the nearby hospital. The mysterious shadow stood shocked and rooted at his place. He had seen Rahul's cold stare at him just before he barged on to the stage. That eyes screamed many things - fear? Worry? Or hatred?

In the hospital, Rahul was being treated while AvNeil with the entire family stood out of the ICU. Everybody was in a trance at what they witnessed a while ago. Neil suddenly hugged Avni.

Neil: Agar usne tumhe dhakka nahi diya hotha tho..AVNI!

Avni: I was the target Neil. Ek aur baar meri wajah se ek jaan khatre me hai.

Neil: He will be fine Avni. He is brave.

Just then the doctor came outside the ICU to inform them that Rahul was stable. He was out of danger. The doctor let them meet him. They moved to visit him and Neil caressed his forehead. Rahul slowly opened his weak eyes.

Rahul: Iam fine Bhai.

Neil: Thank you Rahul.

Rahul: Neil Bhai. Wo mere papa the. He was there. He planned this attack. I spotted him looking victoriously towards didi. I didn't have time to inform you. She was in danger.

Neil: Mr. PANDIT! You are gone!
