Detentioners

Bren POV 🌖

I walked in the detention room and was immediately eyed by Lugo, Bread, Austin, and Reece.

"You're late, Bren...." Principal Mackey told me.

"I know, I know. I'm sorry." I said as I signed the detention sheet before taking my seat next to Austin.

"Nope, spread out. I don't want any of you talking to each other. This is detention, not free time."

I sighed to show my annoyance and got up from the seat to move to another. I glanced at everyone else. Lugo is looking so damn bored right now, Bread is damn near falling sleep, Austin and Reece still seem to be pissed about their fight earlier.

I still need answers as to why they were fighting.

After 15 minutes, I started to get very impatient. "How long are we gonna be here, Principal Mackey?"

"Do you have somewhere important to be?"

"Well no, but you know the curfew-"

"You'll definitely be out of here before 8 o'clock, maybe before 5. I can't be here all day, I have a life outside of being a Principal to this school."

"What, like cheating on your wife?" Austin asked, causing our jaws to drop because he really went there.

"Excuse me!? You watch your mouth young man!" Principal Mackey said as he got in Austin's face with a finger point.

"And you watch that finger and back up out of my face!" Austin clapped back.

"See I was being nice giving detention your only punishment, but now since you want to be disrespectful I'm now gonna suspend you!" Principal Mackey said before he looked through the desk drawer for a pink slip.

Austin scoffed. "I really don't give a fuck at this point."

Honestly, Austin's new attitude is really catching me by surprise. He used to be so....not this. I wonder what's going on with him.

"Ok I don't see any pink slips in here, so I'm gonna go look for one in my office. I'll be back...." Principal Mackey said as he made his way to the door and exited the room.

"Bruh, this is bullshit. This is my first day back in school and I'm already in detention!?" Bread said.

"I'm still confused as to why we even got in trouble. We didn't even do anything but try to break it up!" Lugo said, referring to me, Bread, and him.

I shook my head then decided to turn the attention to the ones who got us all here in the first place. "So do y'all want to tell me why y'all were fighting?" I asked Austin and Reece, kind of annoyed that they're so quiet when this is really all of their fault!

"Because he put his hands on me." Reece answered.

"Tell him why!" Austin said to him.

"No, how about you tell me why!" I said to him, causing him to look at me. "What the hell has gotten into you Austin? All this attitude and rudeness you've been showing today is really rubbing me the wrong way. I'm not used to seeing you like this and honestly I didn't even know you had this side to you."
