As I watched the paramedics covered my mom's body with the white sheet they use for situations like this, a tear fell from my eye.
Lugo then wrapped his arm around my shoulder and held me closer, comforting me as more tears started to fall.
"Bren can I talk to you real quick?" Officer Tasha asked me as she walked up to us.
I nodded my head then lowly said "Yeah" as Lugo released me and Officer Tasha and I walked away from the scene, so we can talk alone.
"We're gonna catch this killer, Bren...." she told me.
"I'm starting to have doubts now. This makes six people dead and the body count will continue to rise if y'all don't do something quick! I don't know if I have much longer-"
"Bren-"
"No, I don't think you get it! This is by far the most horrific thing that has ever happened in this town and y'all aren't handling the situation well! Otherwise y'all would've been found the killer and maybe my mom would still be alive!" I said as I started tearing up again.
"We're doing the best we can, Bren...."
"That's bullshit."
"Listen, this killer is always two steps ahead of us. We don't have enough evidence and hell if it wasn't for me we wouldn't even know what the killer looks like!" She said referring to the police.
"All I know is y'all need to find Victor since I just found out he broke out of jail. He needs to be the person y'all should be tracking the fuck down right now."
"Oh believe me we're on it. Between me and you, I'm 100% sure he's the one who's been killing folks around here. I'll make sure I'll be the one who catches him...."
I nodded my head then she told me "Just be safe out here in the meantime, ok? Stay inside, lock all doors and windows, and have people around you."
I nodded my head again. "I will...."
She gave me a hug and we parted ways.

I knocked on my cousin's room door extra hard since he's currently blasting music and after a few seconds he opened it.
"They're just now realizing you're not in your cell anymore." I informed him.
