Some hard knocks on the front door made me groan as I got up off the bed and went downstairs to answer it.
As soon as I opened the door Lugo came in, in full panic mode. I looked at him confused. "What's going on?" I asked him.
He tried to gather his thoughts and get his words out, but he's struggling right now. I decided to be patient with him and wait until he got himself together.
He took a deep breath and told me "The killer was in the school!"
"WHAT!?" I said, in complete shock.
He nodded his head. "He killed the principal and started chasing us until we ran out of the building!" He said before his phone started ringing.
He looked at who's calling and put it on speaker while he went to go get something to drink to calm his nerves.
"Lugo, my Mom isn't gonna be home tonight. She told me she left like two hours ago. I don't feel comfortable staying here by myself, can I stay at your house for the night?" Bren asked, sounding a little shook up.
"Of course you can! Just make sure you get here before it starts getting dark outside...." Lugo said, sounding like Bren's parent or older sibling. But he doesn't care, he just wants Bren safe....
"Ok thank you! I'm gonna walk over there after I get some clothes ready." Bren said before hanging up.
"You're gonna have him walk over here alone, after what y'all just experienced?" I asked Lugo.
"How else would he get over here? Plus it's not that dark outside yet and the walk isn't that far. He'll be over here before the curfew..." he said, clearly not knowing how to handle this situation.
I slightly rolled my eyes and grabbed my keys. "I'll go get him. I'll be right back...." I said before making my way out of the house.
