Lauren gets into a car accident one day, it's a bad one and it's the worst day of the girls' lives. They fight about the one person in the room rule. Lauren takes two days to wake up, they all cry.

They spend fifteen minutes arguing about who goes to see her first and Ally gets fed up with it, so she tells them all to 'shut the fuck up and listen to me' and the other three immediately stop because Ally very rarely ever swears and she sounds so mad (they know it's not directed at them but at the situation). Ally tells them Normani is going to sit with Lauren, Dinah is going to go home and get them all changes of clothes (she also grabs the Nala Lauren had gotten at Disney World early on in their relationship) and she and Camila will go and get food and coffee. When they get back, it's been about forty minutes or so, and Dinah goes while the others eat. Camila goes next, Ally goes last. Ally goes last because she needs the most time to prepare herself and because she thinks she needs to hold herself together for the others. When she finally sees Lauren, she immediately breaks down because Lauren looks so pale and hurt, and she's connected to all kinds of tubes and wires, and she seems so tiny, almost smaller than Ally herself it seems. And Ally sobs because this girl, who looks so fragile and broken and small, she's the one who completed them, honestly the four had never been so close until Lauren came, and she can't imagine what it would be like to not have Lauren in their lives anymore. Normani knocks on the door for her turn to sit with Lauren again but when she sees the state Ally is in, she lets Dinah go ahead and takes Ally to the restrooms and just lets the older girl cry because she knew Ally was holding it together for their sake, but Ally was going to break at some point, and really the younger two didn't need to see that when their emotions were already so fragile. Ally finally calms down, and they go back and wait. When Lauren finally wakes up, she wakes up to the girls all with their heads on the edge of the bed asleep, because they'd be damned if they couldn't all be in the room after two days. Ally is the closest to her but she can't get herself to speak because her throat hurts from the tube that was shoved down it and she weakly kind of hits Ally's hand that's near hers, and it startles Ally and then the oldest one is sobbing because she can't believe Lauren is finally awake, and then the other three wake up and they're crying, and they almost get kicked out because they send Lauren into a panic which sets off the heart monitor, but they don't care because their girl is awake and alive and she's going to be okay. When Lauren goes home, they don't leave her side for three days unless it's to get food/drinks, or go to the bathroom/shower.

Camila is the one to get the phone call, a text from her was displayed on the lock screen of Lauren's phone, and she's freaking out because she's never been good at controlling her emotions. She doesn't know what to do, she's panicking, and she calls Ally because Ally is like the mom of the group, she'd know what to do. Ally calls the other two, and when they're all together Camila immediately goes to her in tears and just sobs (which is part of the reason Ally believes she has to be strong for the others). When Lauren comes home, they set up the guest room because she needs an actual bed to sleep on, not just the nest they have to accommodate the five of them plus the dogs. They each take a night to stay with Lauren, and the nights Camila is with her, Camila wakes up from nightmares where she gets the same call but it doesn't turn out the same, Lauren never comes home. Lauren has to hug her tightly and whisper assurances that she's okay and she's not going anywhere. And then on the nights someone else is with Lauren, she goes to Ally and Normani (whichever is available) and curls up against them and cries because that phone call was the worst of her life and it has her shaken for weeks. Lauren goes and changes her emergency contacts so that Ally and Normani are the first to be contacted if needed, Camila doesn't need to go through that again and Dinah doesn't need to ever experience it, the older two are better at keeping their emotions in check to do what needs to be done.
