Lauren and Normani sat at a table at a small diner for their date together without the others. It was an early Wednesday morning, and the shop was empty. The two sat at a table with their food and drinks.

"What are you and Dinah doing later today?" Lauren asked quietly asked as she sipped her hot chocolate.

Normani laughed softly as she watched Lauren attempt to lick whipped cream off her nose. She reached over with a napkin and wiped the whipped cream away. "You're so weird," she murmured with a laugh. "Anyways, we're probably just going to go shopping or something. That's what we usually do when we hang out alone because none of you have fashionable taste like us."

Lauren narrowed her eyes in a glare. "Hey, I have fashionable taste."

"You are literally wearing sweatpants and a hoodie right now. No, you don't."

"Sorry that I like to be comfortable," the younger girl grumbled as she pulled her hoodie tighter around herself. "You know I would have dressed better if we were doing something else."

Normani shook her head. "Next time, I'm picking where we're going for our date, and I'm deciding what you're wearing."

"Yes, ma'am," Lauren replied teasingly.

"Disgusting," a scoff came from across the shop.

Lauren frowned and looked up. She noticed a woman giving them an ugly look, her face scrunched in distaste. "Is there a problem?"

"Yes, actually. I'm forced to watch your date. Not only are you both dykes, but she's black and and a dyke." The woman pointed at Normani.

Lauren stood up and moved to stand in front of the older girl protectively. "There is nothing wrong with us being here," she said calmly.

"Except that I didn't consent to watching the two of you on your 'date'."

Normani leaned around Lauren and said, "No one is forcing you to do anything."

"No one asked you, n-"

"You are not about to call my girlfriend what I think you," Lauren cut the woman off. She moved to stand in front of the stranger. "Why don't you go away? We weren't bothering you."

The door behind the counter opened but no one noticed.

"Why doesn't she go back to where she came from?"

"She's from Texas, bitch. Why don't you go back to the dark, sad, lonely ditch in hell you came from?"

Lauren didn't have time to react before a fist connected with her cheek and she stumbled back into her chair, tripping over it and falling to the ground. Her head hit the table as she fell.

The woman uncapped her iced coffee and dumped it over Lauren. Then she went to the counter and slammed her empty cup down. "I demand a refill."

The employee behind the counter looked at the woman incredulously. "Seriously? After you harassed those poor girls and assaulted one of them? No way in hell. Get out." She pointed to the door.

"I want to speak to your manager."

"I am the manager," the older, African American worker said as she hurried over to help Lauren up into a chair and stood protectively in front of Lauren and Normani. "And I'm ordering you to get the fuck out of my store and don't even think about coming back."
