Chapter 3
"Can we stop by Build-A-Bear Momma?" Robert screech, as we drove past the mall. Jake sat in the passenger seat while Cody sat in the back playing with Robert, who was in his car seat. We were on our way to grab something to eat. After last night, I haven't even made an effort to talk to Cody. I still haven't forgiven him for what he did. He expects to just walk back into our lives, but his expectation are beyond wrong.
"Yea.Why don't we just go to the mall. They have a food court there. We could just eat there, then go to Build-A-Bear." Cody looked at. Our eyes met through the rear view mirror. I gave him the 'ugh' look, and he just simply smiled. This boy knew just how to get under my skin.
"Ummm- yea- sure... uh whatever" I agreed, looking back at the rode. Jake was on his phone, smiling like an idiot. Nothing can make him smile like that, expect only one thing.... a girl.
"What's the big smile for?" I smirked. He looked at me and was going to say something, when his phone vibrated. I smiled and shook my head. We pulled into the mall's parking lot and got out. i undid Robert's seat belt and carried him in. He gets sleepy really easy when we go places. Plus, he hasn't had his afternoon nap. I could sense Cody's eyes watching me as we entered the mall. Jake had his head down, reading whatever text. We walked straight to the food court and ordered our food.
"So... What's it like being all famous and stuff?" I questioned Jake, avoiding Cody's gaze. Jake shook his head and let out a fate laugh.
"What are you talking about?" he asked, giving me a funny look. I laughed as I fed Robert a piece of my food.
"You and Mr. Superstar here are starting a clothing line. Plus, he's fans love you." I stated, taking a bite of my food. Cody eyes imedicatly feel on mine. He smiled and shook his legs under the table, nervously.
"Just helping a friend. Hey look, I've got to go meet somebody right now. She's been waiting" Jake said, standing up and kissing my cheek. "Bye sis. Love you" he shook Cody's hand.
"Love you too" I shouted back to him as he ran out the exit. This.Is.Akward. He just left me here with Cody.
"Want to go look around alittle?" Cody asked. He looked as if something was bothering him. I really want to forgive him, but I don't know how. I looked him in the eyes and back at Robert who was now sound asleep. So much for Build-A-Bear.
"Sure.. Why not." I picked Robert up and turned to Cody. We started walking looking in the stores. Not a word has been said. We'd look at eachother, but not say anything.
"Why do you hate me?" Cody asked walking backwards infront of us.
"I don't hate you. You jusy really hurt me." I defended myself. He looked at Robert and then at me.
"I'm sorry. I wish there was something to do for you to forgive me" He stopped walking, which caused me to stop.
"Just be here for him. Be a dad. Don't give up on him like you gave up on 'us'" I walked on, looking for the store.
"I can do that. But, have you ever wondered if he ever ask himself why his mom and dad aren't together?" he caught up with us. I looked up at the sign that hung above the store, to see if this was it.
"I think of that everyday Cody."
"Then why don't we just get back togeher."
"It's not that easy." I said, gentley waking up Robert telling him that we were here. "And, I don't trust you." I looked up to not find Cody. I looked right and left. No Cody.
"I heard you and Daddy talking..." Robert mumbled..
"But you were asleep.." I said confused.
"I was awake. I just had my eyes closed. Why want to take daddy back? I want to be like everybody else, and have a real family" he sounded said, looking around for an animal to stuff.
"I'll talk to daddy.. OK?" I smiled. He nodded and went to stuff his animal. The words he said stuck in my head for the rest of the day. It actually made me smile to think about being a family with Cody. But wait... I hate him.. Right??
