Running

You know most people don't care about running, some people have never heard of it and some people have but don't really think about it except as a way to lose weight or just as part of a workout, or as a competition.

Yes, it can be all of those things, but only  a real runner knows that it's more than that. It's a therapy, a way to push yourself mentally and physically. It gives you a chance to run around the world and feel your heart beating, feet pounding the pavement, your body fighting for air, making yourself do something you never thought possible.

Two years ago, I didn't care about running. I appreciated it, I just didn't care.

A year later I decided to start cross country. I was pretty slow.

Now, I'm so much faster than I thought was possible for my skinny, short little body to be capable of.  I can look back and remember when I struggled to run a mile, and now that's just my warmup. I can now run two miles in fifteen minutes with ease, and I can't believe I can do that but I can.

And if you want to start running, do it. If you find you love it, keep pushing yourself and continue doing it. But, if you find you don't really like it, skip it or do it just as a workout and no offence but don't call yourself a runner.

If you are running already, congrats for getting this far! Even if you just started today, I know how hard it is. But if you are running and are a top person, but do it for the competition or because your parents or coaches tell you to, here's my suggestion.

Take a week off, and in that week if you feel just in yourself like going for a run, then go. But don't force yourself, do it because you want to. If that doesn't work, then honestly I don't know what to say.

I'm no expert or anything but I am a runner and I deeply love the sport. So to all you fellow runners out there, keep pounding the pavement and good luck in your travels!
